We have a ranch-style house where the master bedroom is on one side of the house and the other two bedrooms are on the other side, so a monitor was definitely a necessity for the nighttime being that we would never be able to hear a baby cry from that far away.
After checking out positive reviews at other sites, I had registered and received this monitor at my baby shower. I liked the idea of the two receivers - one for the bedroom and one for carrying around the house. Also the price was right.
For the first week it seemed to work well enough, but soon I started having static problems. I tried changing between the two channels to eliminate the problem to no avail. Changing the position of the monitor and the receiver didn't work either. The static got progressively worse and soon I couldn't even tell which channel the monitor was set to. The static was so strong it was drowning out the noises of my son.
Because of the positive reviews I had read on other sites I assumed this was just a faulty model, so I exchanged it for the same one. The same problem happened.
The next time, we purchased the
Sony NTM-910. Well worth the few extra dollars! We've used it worry-free for two years now and plan to use it for our next child.
Oh, and it turns out that for the few weeks I did try to use this model, I never used the dual monitors. Since I was carrying one around all day, during naps/nighttime it would end up in the bedroom anyway and then I'd have two. The dual monitors was a feature I just had to have, but once I realized that I didn't need it, it opened me up to other models. Perhaps there are people out there that need two monitors - and in that case I'd say look elsewhere for that feature.
