Author's Review

For normal office use, I'd pick another brand. Ours died after 1.4 years and I was informed that after the one year warranty period (5 yrs. on cutters), parts are no longer available. It's made to be disposable.

According to our office machine repairman, these guys are supposedly great at customer service during the warranty period, no problems.

More tips from the service guy: with any shredder, OIL THE CUTTERS EVERY 1-2 MONTHS! Also, run it backward for a few seconds fairly often to help clear out the cutters and prevent jams.

After ours completely jammed, I took it apart. The plastic housing around the cutters was broken. Several cheapo plastic "fingers" separating the cutters had broken off. This resulted in paper jamming around the cutters inside the housing, swelling until the point that the housing burst open, and finally the cutters were completely jammed with paper.

Until then, it almost worked as advertised. 8 page capacity was overstated. More like 3-4 to prevent jamming. Safety features stop machine if the basket is loose or overfull.

Not for continuous duty - spend an hour shredding and it will overheat and stop working until it cools down.

Infrared eye instead of contact switch not such a good Idea. Office staff wondered why it started running all the time - I had to clean off paper dust from the electric eye.
