Author's Review
Fantastic. I have read all the previous reviews, and hesitated for a week to check em out. Fantastic. The fit, for me is not that bad. I have worn earplugs to sleep, and it's much the same. Best earplugs I have ever worn.
If you HATE earplugs, don't get these cans, otherwise, if you can afford em, dive in. I tried the 450 shure ones, and preferred these, actually, and for 250 less!
Sound: Very delicate, very very flat. The bass issue is not a big one for me, because even on my MD 707 the response is loud and crisp. I keep em about 27% volume with no problem. That's on the street, at a concert, anywhere. I burned the f*"&k out of my popcorn just now because you can't hear anything. The noise reduction is incredible.
I refuse to wear them while driving for this same reason, otherwise, very very portable. You can minimize the cord noise ( which is a function of the fact that they HAVE a cord, and it is basically touching your eardrums, minimize by wearing soft collared clothes with no zippers, or tuck inside the shirt, or find another good clip. I also soft taped the cord with very thin elec tape which cuts down quite a bit.
You do hear yourself, swallowing etc, which leads to you being more still as you listen, all good things if you want to immerse yourself in the sound. You notice extra tracks you never knew were there, hear Yo Yo Ma sniffing with his cello, hear Bobby Mcferrin burp in spontaneous inventions. They're amazing. I recently used them to master broadcast audio as well.
