Visually Electrifying Fantasy-Adventure

Eragon is a well done movie in my opinion. I haven’t read the book, but I hear it is a must read, and then a must see. I think that the movie can stand alone without its book counterpart. I went and saw it opening night with a bunch of friends and we had a blast. I also went with my family, and we loved it. It was fun because we bought it when it came out on DVD and we watch it which means it brings us together. It’s full of adventure, magic, and fun. I really enjoyed Eragon.

Plot

An orphaned farm boy Eragon’s (Ed Speleers) destiny is preserved forever when a mystic egg chooses him for its keeper, but this is no ordinary egg, this is the last existing egg of the dragon race. Eragon is now the new Dragon Rider, the boy who will be rescuer to the withdrawn people of the empire ruled by the wicked King Galbatorix (John Malkovich) and his evil wizard Durza (Robert Carlyle). Running, hiding and battling across the lands with his mentor Brom (Jeremy Irons) and the gracious, smart, and awesome dragon Saphira (voiced by Rachel Weisz), together, with the stunning Princess Arya (Sienna Guillory), this Band of Brothers learn more about themselves, their responsibilities and their destinies. Who will succeed good or evil? With the return of the dragon rider is their hope? Or will all be lost to the dark forces forever?

Actors

Edward Speleers played Eragon and he did a fantastic job. He gave the orphan farm boy an innocence and confidence that is really good. Rachel Weisz did well as the voice of Saphira. I could listen to her forever. She had a mygestic, sassy, confident voice that fit the part of the dragon. The evil Durza (Robert Carlyle) was a way good villain. He was eerie, dark, and sinister he fit the part well. My favorite was Brom (Jeremy Irons). You might know him as the voice of scar from Disney’s the Lion King. He did way good in playing the mentor and last (other then the King) dragon rider. He was intelligent, father like, and awesome to Eragon. He taught Eragon the most import lessons that he could have learned, and that we can always make up for the wrongs we have done. It is an awesome cast that if there is a franchise I hope they get the same actors.

Special Effects

The special effects were amazing. Magic tricks that seemed real. Awesome fight scenes that made the movie really action packed. The crazy tree, dirt, scary guys, (I don’t remember what they are called, but you will know them when you see them) are very ugly and well done. They are life like computer generated creatures of the forest that are out to catch him and kill him. He has good reason to run from them. The most obvious special effect and probably most well done is of course the dragon. She looks amazing. After seeing her you will want a pet dragon, or at least a girlfriend with her voice. The special effects really are amazing. It is a fine looking movie.

Extras

The extras are pretty fun that the DVD offers. There is an audio commentary from the director Stefen Fangmeier. It also has some deleted scenes and an optional directors cut commentary. It has a documentary that takes a look inside the magic of Eragon. There is a few featurettes about the characters. There is an art gallery, storyboard galleries an interview with the producer and awesome trailers. It has some very interesting stuff that if you have the time to sit down and watch it will help you to appreciate the movie even more.

Final Words

Eragon is a Fantastic Movie. It is fun for all ages and shouldn’t disappoint. I hear that the book is better, but I think the movie does a way good job to bring the book to the big screen. I really enjoy the family and friend time that this movie brings with it as we sit down and watch it. I recommend it to everyone. It has light magic, dark magic, an awesome villain, a stunning dragon, and an noble hero. It is “a visually exciting Fantasy-Adventure.
