Light May Not Turn Off

I received this stereo system as an early Christmas present. I love the fact that it is slim and, height wise, it doesn't take up a lot of space. It can be assembled easily and I love the way the CD compartment opens up. My only issue with this product is that it has a very nice backlight feature that changes color and it won't turn off even if the power button is off. It's fine during the day, but because the unit is in my bedroom, at night, it lights up the entire room and I have to cover it with a pillowcase. There is a "color" button on the unit and on the remote that is supposed to turn the light off and both of them don't work. I thought it was the stereo so I exchanged it for another one and that one didn't work either. So I went to the store and because the salesman had no clue about the product he is selling, he told me to read the instructions (which only says to press the button) or return the item. Reading the other reviews, I'm going to take mine back before it's too late.
