Madden 07 Gets It Done
Date of Review: Aug 14, 2007
The Bottom Line: Line __________________________ Line
Madden 2007 has a lot of new features, like superstar mode, which is my personal favorite. Franchise has also been upgraded, making this game better then the previous ones.
SuperStar Mode
Superstar mode is something that I have never seen or imagined in a football game. You start by choosing your parents, and for each set of parents theres a position.
Then you go through everything a player would, you have to hire an agent, take an IQ test, have a couple interviews, and meet with your mentor, Terrell Davis. Even if you do bad on the IQ test you still always get picked in the top 5, and the agent you hire doesn't make that much difference.
Once you get drafted you have to go through practice's, gameplan meetings, games, you can even get an offer to be in a movie! Once you get farther you move into a different house.
Once you are in the normal season you can demand to be traded if you don't like the team that drafted you. You might be the starter for the team that drafted you, but when you get traded you could be second string, so trading isn't always the best.
Franchise
Franchise is very entertaining, but its repetative. You start by picking a team, and then you can either go into the preseason with that team, or do a fantasy draft. I like the fantasy draft because then the bad teams are good, and everything is balanced out.
The franchise is pretty much like a real franchise. After the season is over, you goto to the post-season, just like in real football. You have to drop some players, re-sign some players, sign some free agents, and go through the draft. After the whole post season there is training camp, to improve your players, and it helps a lot.
Mini-Games
These Mini-games are not new, but they are still something to include in the review. The on that is probably the best, the longest, and the most fun, is Mini-Camp, even though it can get VERY frustrating.
In Mini-Camp you do different things for each position. Like Pocket Presence, Chase And Tackle, Swat Ball, Trench Fight, Clutch Kicking, Coffin Corner Punt, Precision Passing, And Ground Attack. You can do those on Rookie, Pro, All-Pro, And All-Madden. Once you complete one of them you get a card.
Then theres always the Rushing Attack and Two minute drill.
In Rushing Attack you get to choose a RB and score as many touchdowns as possible against the team's defence you choose. The 2 minute drill is where you have 2 minutes to score as many points as possible.
Other
The soundtrack in this game is amazing, one of the best i've seen, with a mix of rock, and softer rock, it makes a great sountrack with some famous bands, and some not so famous but still good.
The on thing that really bugs me about this game is that its really repetative, if I would of wrote this review when I first got the game, it might sound like a better game.
