The unit is nice, software is a crime

Got the Edge so I track the miles I rack up my bike, and my heartrate- I like to keep it around 200 or so. The Edge does all that, and it even has a backlight.

The included mount is pretty lame- I had to weld together out of #2 bar stock. It added 8 ounces to my handlebars. I don't care though, because the Garmin doesn't even weigh as much as the bag of weed I've always got on me.

I ride a lot of hills, so the altimeter is essential for providing proof of how much better I am than the people I work with. None of them ride bikes.

The only thing that is hellalame is the software they give you seems to purposely stripped down, and the only way to get complete functionality is to go on their dumn "MotionBased" website, which charges like $12USD per month just to be able to use software GARMIN should have included with the unit.

Of course, it would be nice if you could swap out the battery- the battery life just doesn't usually cut it unless you can plug it in every single night. So tracking an extended off-road adventure is out, unless you have some crazy work around.

Also, it's a total rip that there is no mapping capability-beyond telling you if you're going N or S- I don't think it would have killed them to throw in a little mapping ability.
