Toaster Overkill

Pros:  You could run a truck over it.

Cons:  After using it, you may want to.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I've had the 3 slot Dualit for about 4 years, and the newer models may be better. This toaster is about as sophisticated as post-WWII British technology could make it. In other words, it is primitive and quirky. The timer is some sort of friction pad thing which often sticks until you notice the smoke. There is no centering basket, so toast leans against one side with predictable results. I like the one-side toasting feature, but this does not reset itself, so my wife usually screams when her toast is half cooked after I forget to reset the switch. English muffins get squashed in the lever ejector mechanism. And, perhaps most importantly (and quirky) there is no darkness setting, other that what the timer gives you.
The sandwich feature is like your first espresso maker, sounds good but you will never use it.
But, the toaster is made like a tank and will likely last (at least in a non-functional sense) forever.
