Author's Review
I bought the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, after having another previous 1997 Plymouth Grand Caravan, and liked it, but this one had a few more bonusus to it! Here's the details, why I think that you may want to consider one:
*It's stylish, looks great and is very contemporary looking
*Great Gas mileage: gets like 22-25 on the Freeway, and about 18-20 in the city.
*Lots of Room! 7 Passenger seating, enough to fit your family( I got a big one, growing to 6!) and Grandma, too!
*Comfortable for long trips.
*Decent CD Stereo, 6 speakers, although could be a little louder.
*Stow-n-Go is really great for needing space, right away! I used it to put a desk in my back without removing the old seats, like I did in my 1997 Grand Caravan. It's easy, but may need a little practice before you get the hang of it.
*I almost forgot to tell you about the "under the floor" compartment/storage: It's fantastic to put small things underneath with a small little lift of the door, and you can store things like balls, clothing, food, basically anything that you don't want "rolling" around on your van floor.
*Keyless remote entry on the Key, which is really nice, all in one package! But to replace that key is extremely expensive, it cost around $170, PLUS you have to pay an additional amount to have the key "programmed" to work on your van.--Not happy about, and thank God, I haven't had to do that. Come on, Dodge, let's get a little better pricing on the keys!
*6-Way power seats for the driver
*Manual seats for the passenger
*Power Locks
*power windows
*Power mirrors
*Cruise Control
*Rear view window wiper with defroster.
*Tachometer
*Split/Fold seats with the stow-n-go, see above.
*Double sliding doors
*Tinted Windows and/or privacy windows. Very nice!
*AC and heat vents not only for the front, but for the back as well. The passengers in the back can actually adjust the flow of air being given to them.(not in my case, because my kids are in the back)
*A nice 3.3 liter V-6 engine to get you on the go, and is quiet, and very dependable in getting where you want to.
*Dual Air Bags for the front driver and passenger, and 5 star crash testing for the vehicle, so it makes you feel safe.
*In some other vans, they do offer the side air bags. We didn't get it in ours.
Another reason why we chose the Dodge/Chrysler products over Toyota and Nissan is price. We have always liked their products, but because their products are much more than the Dodge's, we decided to stay with that product.
Over all, we have had little problems with it, little headaches, and repairs that were done to it were very minimal: we replaced tires at the dealership, and brakes--which Chrysler, I hope fixed on their future models. Was told by my mechanic that they don't have the best brakes, and have to be replaced at about 30,000 miles.
We did buy this Van used, but had it checked out on CarFax, first.
So, overall, we're happy with our van, and would purchase another Chrysler/Dodge Van in the future.
