"dizzy up the girl" said the goo goo dolls
Date of Review: Jul 17, 2000
What a name for a band? The Goo Goo Dolls. I have no idea where that came from. But their 1998 release of "Dizzy Up The Girl" is a great album. The album was produced by Rob Cavallo and The Goo Goo Dolls and was released by Warner Brothers Record Incorporated. The members of the band are Johnny Rzeznik (vocals, guitar); Robbie Takac (vocals, bass) Mike Malinin (drums). The song list is as follows:
1. Dizzy
2. Slide
3. Broadway
4. January Friend
5. Black Balloon
6. Bullet Proof
7. Amigone
8. All Eyes On Me
9. Full Forever
10. Acoustic #3
11. Iris
12. Extra Pale
13. Hate this Place.
My favorite song on this album would have to be "Iris". The song was written for the movie "City of Angles". If you have seen the movie then you know what the song is about. If not, rent it one night. It's a great movie; but that's another review.
The other three songs on the album that I like are "Black Balloon", "All Eyes On Me", and "Slide" in that order. "Black Balloon is a bieutiful song. You should definetly check it out.
I think Rolling Stone put it best when they said: "...the Dolls traffic in raspy-voiced, guitar-fueled rave-ups with a sentimental streak....Nothing like a few hints of vinegar to make the gooey ballads go down." I couldn't have put it better myself. So I give this album 5
