Will this one die too?
Date of Review: Nov 16, 2000
Ok I admit it....I kill vacuums. That's right I am a vacuum murderer. I recently killed my Kenmore and my next victim is the Dirt Devil MVP Swivel Glide. Well, I haven't killed this one YET.
Performance
The biggest thing I like about this vacuum is the swivel aspect. It turns on a dime and is very maneuverable. This feature is saving my furniture and walls from being bumped into so much. With 12 amps, the Dirt Devil is also very powerful and just might suck your carpet right off the floor!
Assembly
I purchased this vacuum at Target stores. It was still in the box and I actually put it together with a butter knife. (My husband is a mechanic but I could not find a screwdriver lol) I snapped in the attachments, put in two screws and I was vacuuming in 10 minutes. EASY.
Tools
The attachments on this Dirt Devil are great. The extra long hose makes it possible to clean corners and base boards with out bending over. It really saves my back! The hose is also long enough to reach the ceiling and tops of curtains. This is a great feature. The attachments however, sometimes fall off the storage area if not properly snapped in and this can be a pain. In addition the cord is way too short. I find myself plugging and unplugging a lot. As for looks, this vacuum is bright red so there is no hiding it in the corner. The worst thing about the Dirt Devil Swivel is the noise, you can't even hear yourself think when using it. (Maybe my husband can put a muffler on it LOL)
Value
I compared at least 10 vacuums with similar characteristics before I purchased the Dirt Devil Swivel. This one costs about $100 and others like it are the same price or higher. So it's and OK value unless you are in the market for one of those high priced Kirby's or Rainbow's. I would recommend this vacuum to any one. Just remember to buy an extension cord.
