Author's Review
What do you think of when you hear the name Desperate Housewives? A bunch of woman complaining about things that they wish they could change? Well, that is almost what I thought when I first heard of this very famous show. I didnt want to give it a try or even be around when someone was talking about it. Then, I remembered that the thing I hate the most in a person is when they stay close-minded. That is when I decided that I would give this show a try. I thought, well, watching one episode wont be that bad. I mean, after that I can say that I have tried it and never think about it again. Of course, what I didnt know was that that wouldnt be the case. I think it took about seven minutes for me to be totally hooked on never missing an episode of this show ever again.
It was in the first episode that one woman kills herself, a mysterious letter is discovered, a raging affair is secretly discovered, one woman tries to deal with her very rowdy children, you see a struggling woman and mother trying to get over her ex-husbands hurtful affair, and yet another woman dealing with the fact that no matter how perfect you try to make things, things will never be perfect. I must admit, this isnt at all what I thought it would be.
Now, lets not forget what we all know most women like and these women are just the same- a man. Yes, not far into the show you see a competition going on between two women for one man. Of course, the one who truly deserves him is the one who finds out that he is not yet open for business, sort to speak. Also, for you men out there who secretly watch the show, yes, there are plenty of woman on this show just waiting for you to be looking.
From murder mystery to normal household chaos, this show has something for everyone. Whether you are a Lynette and need to know that you are not alone in the struggle with a bunch of scattered kids; a Gabby who is unhappily married, but trying to make sure things are looking good; a Brie trying to make her whole family happy, yet seems to be just making them more miserable; or even a Susan trying to move on with your life but knowing that you are still hurt by something that happened in the past, and that person just seems to be moving on just fine; there is someone and something for you to identify with no matter what.
So, take my advice, take a breather, and watch these incredible actresses play their amazing parts. No matter what comes their way, they have every part of their character under control, almost like they are that person in real life. The one good thing about this show that not one other show has is the ability to be so realistic. Everything that happens feels like it could happen in your day-to-day life, or already has.
