The better of two similar movies

It was a race for the box office, Deep Impact v.s. Armageddon. I saw them both. The plot of both was the same, a extremely massive space body was on a collision course with Earth. While I liked the cast of Armageddon better, the stories and how they were played out clearly puts Deep Impact ahead. What I liked better about Deep Impact, is that I feel if this event were to actually occur, the government would act precisely in the manner they did in the movie. Needless to say, it brings a more realistic view of handling the situation especially when both movies are attempting to appeal to our fears that a cosmic collision is possible.

Besides acting cast and plot, both movies also differ in effects. I think Deep Impact showed a much broader scope of damage that would happen to Earth should a massive space body collide with it. Whereas Armageddon felt it enough to throw fireballs from the sky as a precursor to impending doom. Deep Impact's plot moved along seemingly more slowly than it's rival, but in the end I think it's a better movie.
