To Be Delicious, You Must Smell Delicious

While Rachel Ray may think she is the queen of “delish”, I beg to differ. With DKNY Be Delicious Perfume, I have been told I smell delicious. I have different perfumes for different seasons. This fresh, fruity formulation is suited to warmer months.

What it smells like
Donna Karan describes it as “[t]he succulent scent that just blew in from New York. As fresh and juicy as the city itself. Crisp and edgy. Sweet and sinful. Innocent and sexy.”

Other pros described it as “… a modern feast for the senses. Served in a sleek metal and glass apple bottle, this juicy fragrance combines the scent of apple with a sophisticated blend of exotic flowers and sensual woods. Like the city that inspired it, Be Delicious celebrates individuality with refreshing spirit. Notes include American Apple, Cucumber, Grapefruit, Candid Magnolia, Tuberose, White Muguet, Rose, Violet, Sandalwood, Tender Skin Accord, Blonde Woods, White Amber.”

My View
The glass bottle with silver top is eye catching. It is shaped like an apple, and the bright green liquid perfume inside makes the whole bottle look like a silver dipped Granny Smith apple. While Granny Smith’s are tart, this is fresh, clean, and fruity. It does smell like apple, but also of citrus. It contains grapefruit oil as one of the most potent ingredients, hence the citrus scent. When I hear “fruit” in the context of perfumes, I think teenager. This is no adolescent fragrance; it is definitely refined enough for adults.


When I apply this, the scent strength is moderate. It can be smelled by those close to you (I’ve even had coworkers compliment me on it and ask the name of the perfume), but it is not offensive or strong. It is relatively long lasting and can be smelled all day. Since is it a light, fresh scent, it is more of a casual daytime fragrance. For instance, I would choose a deeper, more sophisticated scent, such as Bvlgari's White Tea, to go a function at night.

Buy again and again
Since this perfume was introduced in 2004, I have purchased three bottles. It is really saying something when I repurchase a cosmetic. Usually I like to try new things. But DKNY Be Delicious seems to work well with my body chemistry. I like the way it smells on me and others do it. It is definitely a keeper.
