Author's Review
For those of you who have been reading my food machine related reviews over the last 1-2 years you will have noticed I like to include a few health related bits, with the human population more diseased today than ever before in it's history and as a result the lifespan is going down for the first time ever, and having myself suffered serious health problems which I am now cured of, I think this is important to include if it can help end some suffering or even save a life.
After reading Kevin Trudeau's truly life saving "Natural Cures" book to which I now owe my life to, I changed my diet overnight, which finally set me free of a terrible disease which caused daily excruciating pain which I had been let to believe was "incurable" by the criminal medical community and only "treatable" with dangerous drugs and risky surgery (modern medicine is responsible for the premature death of between 10,000 and 40,000 people PER DAY according to the scientific study "Death By Medicine", that means conventional medicine is BY FAR the #1 cause of death and kills as many people as if 9/11 occurred 5 to 20 times PER DAY) which seek only to generate as much profit as possible from people's pain and suffering. I've now been completely cured for 2 years and have never been healthier and have talked to many others who have cured themselves of the same and other diseases by simple and free diet changes, thanks to the brave and honest Kevin Trudeau, a true consumer advocate.
Needless to say, commercial ice cream, as well as all commercial dairy, had to leave my diet if I wanted to be and stay healthy. My only choice to keep eating ice "cream" was to make it myself, and I decided on this model due to the larger 2 quart size (most others are 1.5 quarts). I also had to get a non-dairy, sugar free ice cream recipe book to make truly healthy ice cream, in fact I often have some for breakfast, and it's a thousand times healthier than what 99.9% of people eat for breakfast, not only that, it often costs less and tastes much better than commercial ice cream, my friends can't believe how much better it tastes.
To get more specific about the machine, there is the machine itself which has a simple on/off switch and the motor, a freezer bowl must be kept in the freezer when not in use and put in the machine to make ice cream. Once you have your base recipe done, simply pour it into the machine while it's running, depending on the quantity it may take from 10 to 30 minutes to freeze into ice cream. On my first attempts, the ice cream would never get hard, in fact, I could still hear the liquid move around in the freezer bowl, it turned out the freezer was not cold enough, I believe they recommend between -15 and -20 degrees Celsius (sorry for you Americans, I don't use Fahrenheits). After adjusting the freezer temperature it worked fine.
Cleanup is also very simple, I simply rinse the bowl in hot water and soap a few times and wipe it dry, but make sure the bowl has lost it's cool, otherwise the water and towel will stick right to the bowl (just like putting your tongue on cold metal on a cold winter day) and you'll need hot water to get it off.
Here are a few healthy ice "cream" recipes for those who want to avoid the devastating and often deadly effects of dairy products and sugar, both of which by themselves can be more dangerous than smoking.
Chocolate ice "cream":
-Make your "cream" with equal amounts of RAW UNSALTED cashews and water blended in a blender until it forms a smooth white cream
-Add desired amount of cacao
-A few spoonfuls of cold pressed, virgin coconut oil, the more you add the creamier, and the more the ice cream will cause weight loss (raw uncooked fats cause weight loss, cooked fats cause weight gain), this also adds tremendous health benefits to the ice cream, I consume coconut oil daily
-Add raw agave nectar and/or stevia to sweeten to taste
-Add 1 or 2 vanilla beans, or natural vanilla extract (2oz of artificial vanilla is enough to instantly kill a child, do you really want to risk your or your child's life to save a few pennies?)
-A bit of sea salt
Process in blender until smooth, pour in ice cream maker, enjoy.
Tropical sherbet:
In a food processor, place the following:
-1 banana
-Frozen mango (about same amount as the banana)
-Frozen pineapple (about same amount as the banana)
-Coconut oil
-Raw agave nectar or stevia to sweeten to taste
-1 vanilla bean or natural vanilla extract
-Freshly pressed juice of one lime
-Sea salt
Process until smooth, pour into ice cream maker, enjoy.
You can probably use the above ice cream and sherbet recipe to make your own healthy ice "creams" and sherbets. Feel free to have them for breakfast, they make an excellent, healthy and great tasting breakfast. Also, if you like smoothies in the morning, try throwing it into the ice cream maker to eat it rather than drink it.
