~~ CRUSH & SHAKE ME WITH THE CUISINART SMARTPOWER PREMIER 2 SPEED BLENDER ~~
Date of Review: Jul 24, 2007
The Bottom Line: It is beautiful, large, and heavy duty. Everything you want for your blending pleasure.
I love me some Pina Colada.
There is nothing better after a long day and irritating night than to grab a bunch of ice, throw it down into a blender glass, and take your frustrations out on the *crush* button. It is almost carnal. To know that within minutes that you can see the creation of your madness and let it take you to an island far, far away...
Ok. It is not that good, that was just my 5-second commercial version. But it does come pretty darn close.
I bought this Cuisinart after my last blender smelled of burning electrical wires, and I swore that this was it, I was not getting another one. Something always goes wrong, like I break the handle, or can't find the lid, and I haven't had much luck with appliances that I do not use daily. This is not fair to classify this as a blender, it is in a league of it's own. It knows how to pack power and deliver everytime!
Since I found the Cuisinart CBT-500 SmartPower Premier 2 Speed Blender, I have been making all kinds of creations. Some fabulous, some I would rather not discuss as to avoid any potential humiliation pertaining to my "what were you thinking" mixes. Some of us have the gift of experimentation, others are better following recipes to a "t". That would be me. But whatever I monkey around with and throw in the jar, the Cuisinart blends quickly, evenly and perfectly. Many times blenders do not crush ice properly, or do not even out the ingredients, but this systematic masterpiece pulls it off everytime.
We have a stainless steel brushed baby to look good in our New York style kitchen, but it also comes in white-stainless, black-stainless and matte black-stainless. It is made of cast metal and a stainless brushed body so it will stand up strong the way our mother's blenders used to. It is 600 Watt powerhouse and champion of all blenders. It is HUGE, it has a (1.5 liter) 50 ounce glass jar that allows you to make enough for parties and entertaining, which comes in perfect for Egg Nog time around the holidays.
It comes complete with a recipe book to give you ideas for smoothies, milkshakes and mixed drinks. The handle is wide and sturdy, allowing you to pour a heavy batch without your wrist shaking, or feeling like you are either going to drop it or spill anything. The pour spout is bulls-eye worthy and will not leave you cleaning a mess the way other, less expensive blenders will. It is very easy to clean out with it's wide jar glass, and the blades hardly ever have anything sticking to them or under them. I don't put mine in the dishwasher just because I am afraid of it getting ruined, but that is between me and my dishwasher. You shouldn't have a problem.
The buttons are easy to push, the are attractively displayed in the front of the large bottom and has a 5 minute timer on it that beeps so that you do not over-blend. The dimensions are: 16 1/10" in Height, 7 1/3" in Width, 7 1/2" in Depth and it weighs 11.9 lbs. It is heavy and sturdy. It comes with a limited 3 year warranty if you have any problems, which I suspect you will not. Cuisinart is a luxury brand that has a flawless design and supreme standards. This blender is a role model to other blenders.
How does it taste? Heavenly. Unlike blenders before it's time, you would taste banana in one glass and milk in the other. This merges your creations into a soothing and tempting refreshment. (When is the last time you heard anyone use the word "refreshment"? That says it all, baby).
