Author's Review
I subscribed to Coastal Living after leafing through a copy at my Doctor's office a few years ago. I was immediatley hooked on the gorgeous photos, the feeling of a piece of the sea shore being in my hands through the pages. I am a summer time ocean lover, and I felt that subscribing to the magazine would keep me in waterside heaven year round.
And it did. Sort of.
I was disappointed to learn that the magazine only comes out once every other month. Strike one. When I subscribe to a magazine, gosh darn it, I want that magazine in my mailbox, EVERY MONTH. So I was forced to pour over the same magazine for 8 weeks at a time instead of 4.
When the magaizne did arrive, I was always thrilled by the lush, tropical seaside photography, the articles on coastal homes, decorating with a nautical theme, even recipes.
Then something awful happened. I receieved 4 of the 6 magazines in my subscription...but the last 2 magazines never arrived! I contacted the publishers of Coastal Living to find out where my remaining two magazines were. I got blown off in a major way. No response, no magazines, zip. This was about a year ago.
Yesterday, I got a postcard in the mail from the folks at Coastal Living, offering me a free trial issue, and "If I like it, I can continue my subscription for just $12.95." The postcard went into the trash. I will never subscribe to that magazine again, even if the pictures are pretty.
I would reccommend checking out Coastal Living at you local library, or perhaps buying it from a store. But a subscription? No way.
Coastal Living is a good choice for lovers of all that is nautical, and lets you escape for a few minutes (every other month of course) into summer. The articles often feature trinkets and knick knacks that can be ordered (many times they are hand made)showcases the insides of beautiful seaside homes and restoration projects, examines life in seaside towns, and takes you away to exotic locales. The back pages feature listings of seaside property for sale or rent.
A treat for landlubbers and sea goers alike!
