My 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS is the best car I ever had
Date of Review: Sep 6, 2006
The Bottom Line: My final recommendation would be to look close at what you are getting but the Monte Carlo SS is a well engineered vehicle and well worth the money.
I have had many cars in my day, started out with being a Mopar fan and still am in my heart but they missed the boat when it comes to style. That is where the Monte Carlo SS comes in.
Yes I like it for numerous reasons. I like the styling, contrary to what I have seen other people say I like the rear end. I like the way it handles, the acceleration and how it feels on the road. It is sporty and at the same time practical. It gets acceptable to good gas mileage, depending on your driving habits. I try to drive sensible and have gotten up to 23 mpg. driving around town. I have only made one longer road trip and I did get 30 mpg. I like the overhead computer which gives you all the information you need, mpg, average speed, miles left till you have to refuel and my favorite, the compass. I call myself wrong way Corrigan! If you are like me and maybe you have had a few cars that weren't the best, you can appreciate one like the Monte Carlo that really does have everything in a midsize car, including a roomy trunk, and a lot of creature comforts. I personally have had no kind of technical difficulties with my Monte as I have heard of other people saying. It has a smooth and quiet ride which is another plus factor. The Stereo is adaquit with good speakers but it could use an amp to boost the sound a little. I love the Leather Seats, and mine does have dual electric controls. Just a slight downside to it is that it doesn't have memory control for back seat entry, but when you lean them forward and hit the switch a second it is not a big factor.(For me) We only drive locally (Till now) with our 1 child in the back, but room is a plenty. I find the quality of the interior quite nice, I don't find that it has too much plastic, and I have no rattles or squeaks what so ever and my Monte has over 50,000 now. I like the controls on the wheel for sterio and cruise and the entire dashboard layout with oil gauges and Tacho which to me look quite up to date and Sporty. (Of course I could be dated!) I also don't think that the shifter looks dated. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask, thanks for your input, Marcus
