Vroom Vroom! There is nothing more satisfying then hearing my Blazer start up when there's snow on the ground and i have to get where I want to go. I live in the snowbelt in upstate New York and my Blazer has not let me down through any weather. I'm not saying it will climb trees, but with the right set of tires a Blazer will plow through just about any snow covered, slippery, roadway you can imagine.
Blazers do have to be taken care of when the winter weather comes, however. The right cold weather battery, aggressive tires, and good antifreeze are necessities, not just for Blazers but for any care. Putting them in the Blazer just ensures that nothing can go wrong while you're on the road.
Most people gripe about gas mileage, but Blazers with the large V-6 engine get reasonable gas mileage, especially on the highway. Operating in 4wd does cut down on the mileage, but its a small price to pay for the safety and assurance a Blazer provides you.
There are a couple of drawbacks to a Blazer. Since they are essentially a truck, they do take a long time to heat up in cold weather. I remedied that situation by installing a remote start, so now my Blazer is all ready and warmed up by the time I need to go. The other is speed - Blazers are not meant to go fast. So if you are looking for a truck that will comfortably cruise at 85 mph, the Blazer is not for you. Try a Lincoln Town Car or something. 75 is the right number for a Blazer. Don't try to push it past its limits and it will always be faithful to you. Go out and at least test drive one today, you will be pleasantly surprised.
