It's Crying Time Again

Well the card table is up and all the paperwork is spread out to be sorted and organized to see how much Uncle Sam wrings out of us this year, but I’m missing one thing...a calculator.

I know, I know I can use the one that comes with Windows 98 on my computer, but until it either learns to spit out a paper receipt to make sure I got the figures right or has a
bunch of little window calculators so I can go back and double check that I put my figures in right I will still need one of those with a roll of paper I can double check.

Hence, I check the Sunday inserts...ah...K-Mart has a Casio HR-150LC Plus on sale! Regular price is $29.99, on sale for $26.99 with a $5 rebate making it $21.99 plus tax. Sounds good. It got even better when I purchased it and they couldn’t find the rebate form to send in, therefore I got an instant rebate!

I am familiar with Casio products. We have a little 2 inch TV, and I have used their adding machines and calculators at various places of employment, so I knew that I was buying a reliable name brand product unlike Sharp and Texas products I have had problems with.

What I like about the Casio HR-150LC Plus:

* AC/DC operation... four AA batteries or plug-it-in, plug-it-in. Oops...that’s for an air freshener isn’t it.

* The numerical key pads are large and easy to use. As the eyes get older, bigger is better. The calculator is 6 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches long and the LCD display is easy to read.

* The Casio HR-150LC Plus has two color printing! Just like the big boys at the office.

* Paper roll is easy to feed. Just slip it in the slot in the back, hit the feed button and voila! You Got Paper!

* The Casio HR-150LC Plus can do time calculations, like hours, minutes and seconds. This I’ll have to play with, could of used this working on time cards in the olden days.

* You can put up to 12 digits in the Casio HR-150LC Plus .

What I could do without:

* The Casio HR-150LC Plus has this auto power off function whenever you’re not using the unit after 6 minutes. If you push the CA button it does retain the memory of whatever you punched in. I find this irritating as I usually will want to refer to the last figure I put in.

* Also you are suppose to unplug the adapter from the power source when not in use which could be a hassle if you had to crawl under a desk or something to do that..

For the price though, I can’t beat it. I will keep the Casio HR-150LC Plus around for awhile at least until I get my taxes done.
