Canon PowerShot SD100 elph is Awesome!

I own 3 Sony digitals and love them all. The problem was that I needed something small and durable for taking on roof jobs where I document repairs with photos. The Canon SD100 not only fit the bill, it far surpassed my expectations. In addition to the low price, the photo quality is more than adequate for non job related use as well. The lens is of excellent quality and the operation is swift enough from startup (under 3 seconds to fire off a shot with flash)to be fairly spontaneous. The movie mode is easy to use and the quality is pretty amazing, even at 640 X 480. Though I've read of others' complaints about the proprietary battery's limited life until recharge; consider the compactness, 90 minute plug-into-the-wall recharge and fairly inexpensive cost to buy a backup (or two). As for the complaints about the weak flash; what do you expect from a tiny camera with a relatively small battery pack? All I can say is, get closer to your subject or use artificial lighting for better illumination. I know there are better (in all respects) digital cameras. For the price, however, and in this size category, I am in love with this amazing piece of technology from Canon that can fit into any pocket!
