Excellent buy, a little slow printing
Date of Review: Nov 7, 2008
The Bottom Line: A good buy for the money. I will not only toss out my old computer, but will toss out my old fax machine as well.
Easy to set up and a good price, $45. at Walmart , but you will need to buy a USB cord it is not supplied. Also the printing is a bit slower than my last Pixma. Printing and color was great. It's a pretty large machine. but a nice looking printer. Haven't tried to fax or copy yet. The instructions sound a bit complicated. I did like to be able to read the directions by clicking on the icons that were downloaded from the enclosed driver and manual CD. I had heard the driver didn't work with Windows XP, but they must have fixed that, because it works fine now. I tried to find out more about the cost of the ink. This printer uses two ink cartridges. One for black and one color. Together they cost around $40. One set comes with the printer. If you want to print using the black and saving the color you can make a small adjustment in the settings to "grey scale". Since all the color ,except black, is in one cartridge this can lower your ink expense. I just bought the printer today, but I did a lot of research first. When you consider all you can do with this printer and the price it costs I must say that I am pretty happy with my new printer.
