Anyone need a basic personal printer?
Date of Review: Jan 17, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you need something small and simple this is a good option.
Did you ever have the experience of thinking you had everything done and then realize that after all the organizing and thinking you did, you forgot something very important? I realized a couple days before coming to college that I had everything I needed, but a printer. My friend saved me from that mess, he gave me the printer he'd gotten earlier that year and never opened. Somethings you just can't plan for no matter how logical you think your being, something is always missing, hopefully it's not vitally important.
Cost
When you don't have a lot of money to burn you become very grateful for little things. A printer that costs under $50 and comes with ink is a very good thing. If you aren't going to be printing mass amounts of things all day long, this is a good option for you.
Size
Another plus for this is that it fits in small spaces and doesn't weigh a lot so it won't break the shelf to have it sitting there, and it's not very deep, so just about any shelf will do.
Smudges and Scatters
"Watch out below!" So I guess to some extent you get what you pay for. The biggest fault that I have about this printer is that there is no paper tray, so that shelf that it sits on since there isn't anywhere else to put it, constantly has papers falling from it, which wouldn't be as big of an issue if it wasn't for the fact that if you try to catch the papers you smear the ink, which really looks bad, so then you have to print it all over again, and if you don't catch it, it falls all over the place. I told you, it's a no win situation, but I suppose if you had a place to put the printer where it could just drop the papers it wouldn't be so bad, just make sure you don't touch them till they dry.
Flexible Page Size
A nice feature of this printer is that you have options for the size of the paper and the width of the paper, each with only one switch to move. There is one that determines the width of the paper, and one to determine the thickness. No messing with internal things for the printer or the software for the computer.
Ease of Use
One of the really good things about this printer is that it install easily and prints easily as well. You don;t have to mess with a bunch of buttons or settings, just make sure it's plugged in, installed, turned on and your ready to go.
