Author's Review
So, you've bought every single season of "Buffy" because you're a totally vampire crazy fiend like myself, only to discover that this delightful new boxed set is released with every single season, and new bonus footage. I screamed, I cried, I bought it!
Let me be honest with you. If you are a "Buffy" fan who is content with their 7 season collection as is, then you should most definitely just keep it. If you are looking for tons of extra footage and excitement on the bonus DVD, let me tell you that it isn't worth it. If you are a hard-core fan who is really interested in a very well made collectors piece (and you have the money), then by all means buy it!
So if you are not a huge fan, but have maybe seen the show, or are even mildly interested, this is why I think this collection is great. It has every single episode from seasons 1-7, and all the same bonus materials that the original boxed set contains in one neat package. This way, you do not need to bother making 7 separate trips to the store to buy seven separate seasons. Also, if you play your cards right, you may be able to save money buying them in one large set, rather than separately. Specifically, this set has price ranges from $120 -$180. To date, the set generally sells for above $150 in stores. It is pricey indeed, but a good buy if you have not purchased any season thus far.
This boxed set also saves a great amount of space on your DVD shelves, and can also be kept out in the open to display (it is THAT neat and clean looking on the outside). Also, I found that the original boxed sets (which come in a sleeve like box) could easily get bent when I was using them. Unfolding them was bulky and awkward. In this new set, each season is neatly stacked on top of the next and each has its defined space within the larger box. The new episode guide book is also really exciting. The old sets came with paper thin episode guides that could very easily rip or bend. This set has a sturdy and thick book that contains all the episodes with summaries.
The key to this set is convenience and style. If you are a hard-core Buffy fan, or you have not yet bought all of the seasons yet, this is the best buy for you.
To end my opinion post, I thought it would be beneficial to include some information about the series for those who are not familiar as well as technical aspects of the boxed set: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is a television show written and directed by Joss Whedon that aired on the WB and UPN. The show is based on Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar), the vampire slayer, who moves to Sunnydale California with her mother. Throughout her struggles she befriends Willow, Xander, and her watcher Giles (played by Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, and Anthony Stewart Head respectively). She also falls in love with the mysterious Angel(David Boreanaz), clashes with the popular Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), and battles vampires and other demons throughout the seven season run (144 episodes).
The DVD boxed set includes the following:
Seasons 1-7 (all 144 episodes)
Special features on select discs
A NEW disc with an intro from Joss Whedon and six new special features
A letter from Joss Whedon
An episode guide with summaries
Enjoy!
