Small handy home-office copier. Go Laser! Oh thank you brother.

The Bottom Line: It makes copies. Easily. You looking for photoquality, get a separate printer and separate scanner. I dont even try using this as a multifunction.
We have only had this machine for a couple of weeks. Its looks are not hip, but it works. We use it as a copier only.
After a 4 year frustrating, infuriating and work-stopping experience with an all-in-one Epson 4600 and previously an all-in-one HP 6110, we decided that we would keep our separate scanner and separate printer and use this machine as a stand-alone copier for office work, bills etc.
In the 2 weeks we have had it I have to say this:
I flick the on/off button and place the original on the glass. It heats up in a few seconds, probably less than a half a minute. I press the copy button and it makes a copy. The feeder works ok. The quality is ok for what we need it for, as I said, for bills, texts, quick reference etc, but the main difference between this machine and the other two is that this one ACTUALLY MAKES HASSLE FREE COPIES. You press the button and it makes a copy. So far so good.
Great work, Brother.
May the "designers" of Epson 4600 and HP 6110 pay for their incompetence when it comes to user needs, breaking machinery and greed when it comes to inks. I wish I had a way to sue them but I already threw out fairly new machines since the warranty ran out.
Note: I have no intention of using this Brother as a scanner or printer. Seems like the manufacturers generally dont realize how important it is to have a handy DEPENDABLE photocopier without a cumbersome computer interface to make everything complicated. If Brother puts out an 11 x 17 format I'll be the first to buy it.
I'll keep you posted if something happens. If there are no updates, assume all is still well.

UPDATE October 2006: This is a great little copier, for smaller workloads. Need a copier around for occasional copies? This one, unlike other products Ive tried actually works. Turn it on, it starts in a minute and makes a copy very quickly after you start it up. I dont bother using it as a scanner or printer. Other equipment better for that.
