Best Electric I have ever had!
Date of Review: Dec 13, 2006
The Bottom Line: Buy if you can afford it because you can't get a better shave. It also cleans itself for you.
This is by far the best electric I have owned. Granted the only others I have had were two Norelco, one of which used lotion during shaving. I bought this shaver about a month and a half ago. I got it on-line from Kohl's for $75. I had had my Norelco for the past 5 years and decided it was time for a switch. I had seen the Braun advertised on TV and decided I was going to buy it when I saw it for fewer than 100 dollars. Considering the price is normally $170 I figured I would have to wait a while.
The shave is awesome. It gets extremely close on the face, but leaves a little rough patch around the Adam's apple if you're not careful. I recently got my monthly consumer's report and saw that this was the only electric razor that got an excellent for shaving closeness.
The only problem I have experienced is that the razor is much louder than a Norelco, and the self clean is fairly loud as well. I have a 2 year old son and I have t
to wait until he wakes up to hit the clean button or else it wakes him. His room doesn't even share a wall with the bathroom.
If noise isn't a problem than this is the perfect razor with no drawbacks. I would like to see how Braun intents to improve on this design because I not sure they can.
This razor seems to be well built. I have not dropped it but I doubt that it would break if I did. The hard traveling case is also a great feature and makes sure no damage occurs. This is nice because when I travel I'm not always very careful with my bags.
Overall I would recommend this razor to anyone who is willing to spend the money on it. I have only gone through one cleaning solution in 6 weeks so it doesn't end up being that expensive.
