Very sophisticated machine
Date of Review: May 4, 2007
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this if you don't have serious stain issues. If you do buy an agitator style top loader. It is very cost effective and quiet.
We have washed probably 40 loads in this washer and have had no serious issues. It is VERY quiet and it's hard to even tell it's running sometimes. It has a sophisticated feedback system that monitors soap levels and how the clothes tumble to optimally spread them out during spins. All in all it is an impressive piece of machinery. It is gentle on clothes but gets them very dry when it is done. We have this in a laundry room above our basement on a slate tile floor and there is no problem with vibrations.
The primary drawback to this machine is that without an agitator it just doesn't clean as well as the old fashion machines. I think this is the issue with all the front loaders. (It actually works better than I originally suspected it would but not better than our old washer like the salesman said it would. Front loaders "work" better than top loaders like electric cars "work" better than gasoline cars.) If you're into status more than functionality this is the machine for you. If you are a construction worker do not get this machine. We have to pretreat and scrubing the stains before the wash. It mainly has issues with baby food stains or other serious stains. For people without kids and who have office jobs this would do an excellent job cleaning clothes.
Minor issues are as follows:
- small articles like baby's socks get stuck in the door seal
- you can't turn of the annoying beeping when the cycle ends
-it uses so little water that some complain that if it is not near the water heater it won't get any real hot water
I would say we are happy with the washer and if we pre-treat stains it works very well and it's nice to save money on electricity and hot water.
