Christopher Paolini - Brisingr an amazing next step in the series!

Date of Review: Sep 23, 2008

The Bottom Line:  I would advise reading the Inheritance Series because it is a wonderful and thought capturing book in which any body will love!!!
Being a true fan of the Inheritance series, I obtained the newest book in the series, Brisingr, the day that it came our. This book by Christopher Paolini - Brisingr, the epic story that we all know and love ( for the fans) is beautifully upheld and wonderfully displayed with all of the new " twists " that Paolini saw fit to give to us to, I have to say the word, tempt us to continue being a fan of his to see how this wonderful and entertaining story unfolds.

STORY In Brisingr, Eragon starts out where the previous book left, hunting down the formidable foe of the Raz'ak. From the beginning of the book, until the very last page of the book, there is various sequences of action that take place, that tie the story together, just a little bit more. Over the course of the book, both Eragon and his cousin Roran, participate in a wide variety of different battles, which are described in detail such that you can nearly see the battle field stretched out in front of you. Eragon is also separated from his only true companion for most of the book, traveling across both the empire, and the vast reaches of the dwarven country, and the immense forest of Du Weldenvarden.

SURPRISE Eragon goes throughout the book, learning multitudes of different and useful information, which generally, would be just 'useful' knowledge, however, in the end of the book, everything that he has learned throughout the book, ends up making sense. You understand so much more of Alegasia through all that Eragon learns, and you begin to piece together certain.... foreshadowed events in which you know are going to happen.

FLOW Throughout the book, there is almost never a time in which you do get bored while reading. I do have to admit, that most of the parts which do not deal with Eragon directly do have there draw backs and are not nearly as exiting nor interesting, however, they are equally important and help the book flow more smoothly. While I was reading, I was always asking myself, " Well what is Eragon going to do this time?" Each time he got himself into trouble, You expect him to get out of it one way, yet he uses some odd spell, or does something out of the ordinary. Yet, what can we expect from our favorite dragon and rider?

I have to admit, that I did not finish the book in the time frame that I had allotted to myself. When I bought the book, I was hoping to have finished it by the nights end. Yet with friends, and homework, I did not finish it until Early Monday morning. This is an amazing next step in the epic that is an Inheritance, and it leaves you in want of that final begotten book. Eragon learns new, dark secret in which he has to swear silence, and he travels across the land in search of a way to win the war.
