What (Not) to Eat
Pros:
It's good, and I'll be using it for planned outings.
Cons:
Nutrition on the swaps may be iffy...
The Bottom Line:
Read this if you need a lifestyle change or you're losing weight - I even recommended this by email to the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI)!

Author's Review
I discovered Eat This, Not That! a year ago when I was searching for "worst foods" over the Internet. I also glanced at it at the gym before my consultation with my dietitian and found it interesting. So I went to Wal-Mart to buy this book and I read it.
Unfortunately, we Americans tend to eat too much, and I am one of the two-thirds who are overweight. This book tells me to consume less "bad" fats, refined sugars, and sodium, and most importantly, it gives me smarter choices caloriewise. Recently, a study showed that it doesn't matter what I eat, as long as I watch my calorie intake, so this book brings home this message.
I would like to see an update on the series of books including annexing the glycemic loads and indexes of not only foods in general, but on the swaps and better choices, although carb content is listed in most foods. I would also like to see more swaps and passes in the new series as well!
Oh, and to add to the fun, there are a flurry of studies on eating particular foods to round it out. For example, on the page where the authors showcased the grilled tilapia from Applebees', they mentioned that a 2005 study from Harokopio University in Athens in Greece (albeit implicitly) that people who eat fish twice a week have a 38% risk of a heart attack.
Here's a message for the authors - please give me more of your books! The first installment's great!
