Author's Review
Although we have gone few a few of these since I first wrote this review we just bought another one. There is just nothing like this little machine and I still highly recommend it. 12/5/04
I have told everyone I know about my little green machine and how much I love it. I only wish I knew about it a couple of years ago.
I have dogs and needless to say dogs (mine anyway) have accidents. I should have owned stock in the carpet cleaning products I owned. You name it..I tried it. Nothing worked.
A year ago we moved to a house with a white carpet- yes I said WHITE. I must have seen an advertisement for this little Bissell and it was on sale. I ran out and bought it and bought extra solution. Believe it or not, the next day, my Westie had an accident. I won't go into details but I was about to cry. I assumed our white rug was ruined. Truly, I couldn't imagine anything I had every tried getting that mess out.
I ran and got this little machine and it was a miracle. No kidding...the rug was white again. I use it constantly and haven't come across a stain it won't take out.
I do agree with another opinion that it would be nice if the battery held longer, but just today (which is what prompted my review) my Cocker Spaniel had an upset stomach (:..what a mess. In 5 minutes every single spot came out. Granted I did have to add the solution twice but what do you want for a product that size?? We have a large cleaner (I haven't reviewed yet) but I don't want to use that for small spots. My charge held long enough to clean this up and there is no telltale evidence of the pork I gave her for breakfast (hey, she's 15 years old, she can eat anything she wants...well not tonight..I think I'll keep her diet bland!)
The machine cleans very easily. Just touch a button and the mouth of it detaches and can be spilled out and cleaned. I do find it drips occasionally - a negative with which I can live.
This Bisell spot remover is small and fits into a corner of my kitchen. I keep it plugged in all the time ready to grab. A 32 ounce bottle of the solution costs $6.99 (here in Massachusetts) and goes long enough for me to feel it is a good value. It really doesn't matter if it is a good value or not, to tell the truth. The fact it works to get out the toughest stains is what matters to me.
One bit of advice. I know only 73% recommended this product. One thing I do for really bad spots is spray the solution and let it sit for a minute, then go back to vacuuming it. And remember, you are only supposed to vacuum in ONE direction. Just some ideas for those of you who don't like it to try.
The fact that it is small and doesn't hold a lot of solution again is ok with me, because I wanted something lightweight and inexpensive and this does the trick. Perfectly. I just went by the living room to see how much the solution costs and NO SPOTS are visible..a miracle called The Bissell Spot Remover.
