. . .for dummies, or extreme novices

Once you get past the idea that magazines exist to sell ad space and therefore to sell products, this one isn't so bad. I mean it didn't used to be so bad until they revamped their (scanty) editorial pages with a breezy tone and downright silly photo layouts. For example, I used to enjoy reading about the new crop of bikes each season, then I would flip to the back and find some "humorous" article telling me what kind of personality I had according to what kind of bike rack I have on my car. That's not worth the cover price and you might as well get the catalogs if you're into buying stuff.
