Well, what more can you ask for? All the fun of fishing without having to get up before sunrise, get your hands dirty, worry about running your boat into the rocks, have a care in the world about weather conditions, and whether or not you can find any fish. Plus, this is the only time in my life I've ever caught a fish as big as 9lbs. 7 oz. So far, that's the biggest I've seen. I should be so lucky as to catch something HALF that big in real life!!!!!
I must say this is one of those games that once you figure out some of the tricks, it's hard to put the game down. The graphics are pretty good, although once I had a problem when I caught a fish close to shore and it appeared that the fish got stuck in the mud. No matter what I did I couldn't get the fish reeled in or out! I finally cut the line.
The game has many options for reels, boats, and lures. The more you win, the more equipment choices and tackle choices that you get. When I first began using this game, I did not have a functioning controller pack. Once I purchased that, I've really enjoyed playing. This allows you to save the games when you are done, and then go back to the tournament at a later time. I have used the game with a rumble pack, which gives great vibrations when you catch a real fighter. I was concerned that I would have to make a decision between using the rumble pack or the controller pack, but once the system detects the controller pack and loads the game, it allows you to swap out the pack for your rumble pack. You just need to put the controller back in at the end of the game when you want to save it.
While I haven't gotten completely through all the different tournaments, the ones that I have tried have definitely been different from one another. This includes different weather conditions as well as very different lake conditions.
I think this is a great game that will teach you many things about fishing if you are an amateur. As I read in one review, the fish don't just jump onto the hook. There are times when you need to figure out the best lure, and what you're doing wrong when the fish just stares with no interest, at the lure going by it.
The Con might be if you are a real-life experienced fisherperson, this might be a bit boring. However, there are different levels of play available, and I assume the more advanced you get, the harder it is to catch a fish. I'm still working in beginner mode.
If you enjoy fishing at all, this is a definite game worth trying!
