Author's Review

I actually bought Ballistic thinking it was another game! Oops, my bad. But actually, my good! It is an entertaining and fairly addictive game... certainly worth the twenty bucks.

I've played Ballistic on the Sony PlayStation where it is slightly better because of the screen size and turret moving/shooting speed. But the GameBoy version is still a great play! The spiral of balls marching towards your "death gate" is a bit shorter than in the full size game--but I assume that is needed for ball clarity.

What I mean by "ball clarity" is that the GameBoy version adds something the the original version does not have--shapes inside each of the balls of the same color. Stars for green ones, squares for pink ones, hearts for red ones... I'm pretty sure that they did that because the colors are not entirely distinct. It *is* easier to match shapes (in this version) rather than colors.

The turret speed could be better too. The original version's turret will move so quickly that it is easy to overspin or start spinning uncontrollably! I think the GameBoy version will just force me to learn better directional skills and work on my strategy rather than the speed of my weapon. That is probably for the best!
