Acura MDX vs. BMW X5

Date of Review:  Nov 20, 2000
The Bottom Line: If you want a great all-around SUV, get the MDX. If you want the ultimate all-road driving machine, go with the X5.
Review: We're currently vacillating between an Acura MDX and a BMW X5 3.0i as our next vehicle, and for us it's been a tough choice. We highly value safety, utility and versatility, and each model has much to offer in these categories. Although we've...

BMW X5 -- You like Young Sluts? They Like BMW X5

Date of Review:  Jun 29, 2001
The Bottom Line: Creme de la creme.
Review: BMW has come up with a new categorization in this auto market of seemingly uncategorizable cars. They call their entry into the SUV market a Sport Activity Vehicle (I call these car-like SUV’s). Unlike a truck based SUV, X5 is more like an overgrown...

Luxury and Sport Multiplied by 5

Date of Review:  Oct 6, 2000
Review: The price? Well, base MSRP (which is what it?ll cost you for the foreseeable future) is $49,907 with the $570 destination charge included. This is WITHOUT options. However, the Sports Package would add $2470. Suffice it to say the X5 has a VERY long...

Keep it or sell it, keep it or sell it... We'll Keep it!

Date of Review:  Aug 30, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a mountain car with highway performance, this is it. Fast, comfortable, quiet, safe. What more could you want? Gas Milage is a downer.
Review: My wife had to give up her company car a few months ago, corporate downsizing took away the minivan.

This left us in a predicament, as we wanted a newer car; but not the associated payment. If we were going to buy a car, it either had to...

Awesome vehicle, and navigation is a must have

Date of Review:  Jun 15, 2000
Review: There were two events in my life that drove the purchase of the BMW X5. One was the fact that our little family was growing and my wife's convertible Mustang is obviously not a family car. Further, the Mustang has been a magnate for collisions...

The body of a SUV with the performance and feel of a sports car!

Date of Review:  Aug 9, 2001
The Bottom Line: The X5 is a great, sporty, and luxurious car filled with features. I highly recommend this car.
Review: BMW sure made a winner with the 2001 X5. It catches everyone's eye when you drive it down the street. If you're concerned the car will ride like a truck, it doesn't. It designed to move and feel like a car with the performance of a sports car...

Greatness, but at a $50K pricetag

Date of Review:  Jan 1, 2001
Review: To tell you the truth, I would have never bought the X5, had it not been for my son's constant pestering for me to at least give it a test drive. Frankly, I thought it was ugly like the Mercedes ML320, and I had no desire to drive it.

But...

12 month review from an owner - disappointing

Date of Review:  Jun 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: Disappointing for a BMW, but still better than the rest of the pack. Buy one, but wait a year for them to get the bugs out.
Review: Yes, it's a fun test drive. But, it's a pain to own.
--------

At 12 months and 20,000 miles, my 3.0i Suburban Assault Vehicle has been a disappointment. It has already been recalled several times (from electronics to steering wheel...

Nice ride, but horrible maintenance

Date of Review:  Jan 2, 2007
Review: I have a 01 X5. I will have to tell you the drive is nice, it handle corners just like a car, acceleration is great. On the worse side, this car has a lot of electrical problems, I mean one day its the parking lights, other day its the signal lights...

Having owned a few sports cars, I've had a lot to compare with.

Date of Review:  Mar 27, 2001
The Bottom Line: Buy It!!!
Review: I've read several comments about the X5's poor gas mileage or that it is pricey, but you should expect a vehicle like this to come at a higher price. If you're wanting something that is totally different than any other SUV on the market, then step...
