Author's Review
Whenever my father-in-law comes up to visit from Florida he always brings us a huge sack full of citrus fruits from his private grove. These are the most delicious, tastey and juicey oranages and grapefruit and lemons ever grown on the planet. We eat many of them, give some away, and make juice with the rest of them. During Christmas one year, he gave us one of these Aroma Citrus Juicers.
The tool works great! Simply cut an orange in half, then press it down on the center piece. A motor starts up and bores into the pulp as you gently press down. Within seconds you are left with freshly squeezed juice. Depending on the size of orange, it may take a few oranges to get a large glass of orange juice together. The juicer has a bowl underneath that captures the juice. You can see through the transparent bowl to determine how much juice is in the bowl.
The machine makes some noise, but overall I would say it is rather quiet. When you are done making juice, you can pour the juice directly from the bowl. Simply remove the motor covering the bowl, and pour away! Clean up is pretty simple. I wash everything out in the sink by hand under the faucet (because of the motor) but you could put most of the parts in the dishwasher.
Making orange juice can be a bit messy. Any juice left on the counter can become a sticky mess. That is no fault of the machine - I can't imagine a simpler way of making orange juice. And cleaning up the mess is no big deal: Dump the orange skins in the compost bucket, and wipe down the counters with a wet sponge and dry up.
I often drink container purchased orange juice. Ads on TV say "it tastes just like freshly squeezed!" Man-o-man. Don't believe it! Freshly squeezed orange juice is much juicer, sweeter, and full bodied. It is probably better for you too since there is nothing artificile added - and you can be absolutely sure of that.
After you are finished, you can easily store the machine away. It is rather small and compact. The electric cord can be nested into the machine to keep it from dangling. It only stands about 8 inches high and 6 inches deep. By the way, I believe it holds about 34 ounces of juice.
You can also squeeze grapefruit, lemons and other citrus fruits with it. I prefer eating grapefruit in halves, so I rarely make grapefruit juice. But lemonade....you can make some really mean freshly squeezed lemonade. Simply squeeze one lemon, add the juice to 2 quarts of water, and add a little sugar to your liking. Yummy! I never tried squeezing other fruits, and I don't believe it would work with this machine.
As I mentioned, the machine was a gift so I do not know what it cost. However, I've seen these in Target stores for less than $20. I know they are also available online.
I would highly recommend this machine to anyone who likes freshly squeezed citrus fruit drinks. My whole family uses it (even the kids!). This would make a great gift (this from a recipient). Thanks for reading my review and best wishes for a wonderful day!
