I absolutely love my ipod nano. It is something that I take with me everywhere I go: in the car, on a run, cleaning, studying, on the beach, anywhere. It is a luxury I am admittedly spoiled by, as are most of my peers.
WHAT IS AN IPOD?
For those out there who aren't completely understanding of what an ipod is or does, let me give you some incite. First you must download a program called iTunes, which is simply a program where you can organize all your music. You can burn all of your cds onto your computer, or buy mp3's from the iTunes music store and organize them into play lists. A play list is the advanced way of making a mixed cd/tape. Once you arrange your music, you can plug the ipod into your computer and it will automatically transfer your music onto the ipod for you to play and enjoy anywhere you go without having to drag a book of cds everywhere. This specific iPod can hold about 250 songs of your choice.
QUALITY:
The sound quality is not as good as listening to your cds from a stereo system. I like to plug my ipod into stereo speakers, which works great for parties. I know a few DJs who will use their itunes and ipods for smaller gigs, but will always prefer CD's as long as the sound quality is better. One day the technology will be at a level where ipod sound quality is the same as a stereo.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
It is an incredibly sleek model that weighs practically nothing. I knew it would be small, but I was still shocked when I took it out of the box at how light and thin it actually was. Turning it on you will find a simple, color screen with an easy-to-understand menu. It may take a few minutes to learn how to use the unique functions, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
WHAT ELSE DOES IT DO?
Aside from music there are other functions such as games, photo storage, calendars, and various podcast downloads from the music store to play as well. With a 14-hour battery life, you will be occupied and entertained all day long.
It may seem a little expensive for such a small accessory, but if you love your music and to be up-to-date with the most recent technology, it is worth the money. As a college student, I rely on my ipod to keep me sane going from class to class every day. I can't think of one friend who does not have one.
