Great mouse for your MacBook Pro
Date of Review: Aug 24, 2009
The Bottom Line: Great mouse for OS X. Scrolling functionality is the best, and very unique.
Got this mouse for my MacBook Pro around the beginning of July this year. So far I've been very happy with it, except for the OS X Leopard bug that caused the Bluetooth disconnects. It seemed as if the Airport (Wifi) was causing interference, I would notice that whenever there was a spike in wireless network usage, the Mighty Mouse would disconnect.
If you experience the disconnection issues under Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 or 10.5.7, upgrade to 10.5.8, it will resolve this issue completely.
Battery life is adequate, the new Energizer AA batteries lasted me almost a month an a half with pretty heavy usage (every day, 2-4 hours). However, it would be better if it lasted 3 months or maybe more.
Ergonomics are great, and one of the main reasons you would like this mouse is because of the 360 degree scrolling with its built-in mini-trackball. It feels great to flick the little ball around to scroll through web pages top to bottom, and side to side as well.
The side buttons are not very useful, mostly because it requires quite a bit of effort to click them both. I like to use them for Expose in OS X (to reveal all open windows).
Compared to a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000, I like the Mighty Mouse a lot better.
