sophisticated and unique

The Bottom Line: Worth trying out if you want an uncommon scent for all occasions that is complex, but not overpowering. Not something "everyone else" is wearing.
I discovered this scent (and this brand) when I was cleaning rooms at the high-end Inn where I work in the summer. Every time I entered the room I was aware of an amazing scent, and my curiosity was satisfied when the woman left her nearly empty bottle of "Nuits d'Hadrien" behind. There was just enough left for me to try it on, and I was smitten. Kismet, as I am always on the prowl for the rare scent that grabs me. And this is not a perfume that is easy to find, so there are not many opportunities to test it.
Fragrance is so subjective, but I will attempt to describe. I am not attracted to pure florals (tho I Love "Je Revien", which is floral based). I tend to like woody, citrussy, amber-ish scents to dominate. Nor do I like heavy, overpowering scents (tho I have a weakness for "Opium" in small doses). Now that you get where I'm coming from, I'll describe.
When I first put this on, the citrus dominates then relaxes into a very yummy, warm, complex woody amber-like scent with a touch of citrus. My description here doesn't do it justice, but you get the gist. My only gripe is that it isn't terribly long lasting on me, but it retains its character all day, albeit subtly. Maybe this is just right. This trait would make me doubt if it's worth buying the Eau de Toilette of this scent.
It strikes me that this is really a unisex scent, and I've noticed that Annick Goutal markets it to both men and women. For men, it only seems to come as an Eau de Toilette. For women, if you want to buy the Eau de T., I'd get the men's version as it's cheaper... just bottled differently, and just as attractively, as the women's.
