Author's Review
Yes, I have to admit that I am one of those people, whom, everytime that you call me, you are going to be greeted with "Hello, you have reached us when we are not available to come to the phone..."! Thanks to annoying telemarketers, impatient eBay customers, invasive in-laws, tenacious bill collectors and people who randomly call me out of the blue when I am rushing out the door, trying to keep me on the on the phone with their 12 hour conversation, I SCREEN CALLS!!
And I have to say, I have never had "luck" with answering machines, and this model is no exception. Ironically enough, I bought this to replace another model that broke, and this one followed suit about 6 months later. Maybe it is because I over use it. Or things get spilled on it. Or the boys press the buttons too hard, or it drops on the floor too hard when someone grabs and yanks something that it is attached to. Or maybe, these are not always built to last. The manufacturers know that the majority of us busy people do not bother with warranties, we will just dispose our broken electronics and buy something new. They know about people like me!!
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET
This model is very attractive and small enough to not take up too much room. It is white with grey buttons that are easy to see. It has an LED two digit message counter to let you see incoming calls. It has call screening on the LED lighted screen, if you have that option through your phone company. It sounds excellent when the calls do come through and you have about 40 minutes of call time available at any given time, so you may want to delete any long winded messages. It allows you to play this with different speed modes, fast if you are skimming through a message, slower if you need to catch someone leaving a phone number or case number. The only bad thing about the digital chip that retains the messages is, once the electronic componants start going out, the whole machine stops working, and that is what happened to us.
JUST THE FACTS, MA'AM!!
If you have a power failure, it has a back up message guard to save your previous messages. It has a stamp for both the date and time that someone calls you. It has an audible message alert to let you hear when a new message has come in. This machine also lets you call in and check on the messages whenever you are out in case you need to follow up on an important message, or are expecting to hear from someone important! It is very lightweight, and the buttons are light and easy to push.
HOW'S THAT WORKIN' FOR YA??
This started going out on me slowly. First, the machine began cutting messages off, and then losing messages entirely. Not so long after that, the buttons started to stick, and would not allow me to delete my old messages. Try having 50 messages that you have to forward through just to get the new ones? UGH. I do not know if it was the models fault, or fault of our own, I am just glad that we did not spend alot of money for this. I missed a few important calls, and since there is no recording tape, it wasn't like I could just replace it. Seeing as I am an impatient person, I said to "heck with it" and just went out and bought a new phone that had the answering machine already built in.
DO I OR DO I NOT THINK THAT YOU SHOULD GET ONE OF THESE??
I do not recommend this model. For short term use, or for someone who answers the phone the majority of the time, it would be fine. But for a heavy user such as myself, no.
