Athlon XP 2400: Do you want this processor?

Date of Review:  Aug 1, 2004
The Bottom Line: Trying to extend your PC2100 RAM or motherboard which doesn't support 333MHz FSB? this is the processor. Otherwise step up to the Barton core and PC2700/PC3200 RAM.
Review: Background

I found a great deal on a SOYO barebones system that needed some RAM, a processor and a hard drive. I had every intention of keeping this box for myself to try out Fedora Core Linux, so the 750MHz Duron I had laying around was...

GREAT Processor, truly remarkable

Date of Review:  May 27, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is a great processor that is cheaper and outperforms Pentium 4 2.4ghz at most common tasks. BUY THE RETAIL VERSION, NOT OEM for 3 year warranty
Review: THE SITUATION

I have been running an old Athlon T-Bird overclocked to 1.33ghz and running the newer programs and games began to become a SLOW process. I decided to upgrade to this processor when it went on sale at newegg.com for $105.

Best Way to Squeeze More Time out of your PC2100 RAM

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2003
The Bottom Line: Well worth the few extra $$ over the OEM chip and a great bargain power CPU.
Review: PC2100 ram is quickly going the way of PC1600 and standard sdram... that would be... away. I would love to have some PC2700 or PC3200 ram but just couldn't justify replacing 1Gb (2x512) of ram when my Intel 2Ghz P4 machine died. I did a lot of...

XP2400 performing up there with a XP3000 in Sandra!

Date of Review:  Aug 3, 2003
The Bottom Line: Buy it for 90 bucks and forget about the much more expensive Bartons!
Review: I am running this processor at 2.28 ghz (16x 143)and it's rock solid. I have just started overclocking it and I think I will get much further. I have 512 of Infinion PC2700, an Allinwonder 9800, an Audigy 2 Platinum, and am running XP Pro with sp1...

the main advantage of this athlon is the power consumption

Date of Review:  Jul 27, 2004
Review: i like this version of the athlon, cause it has a Thermal Design Power of only 40 W instead of 70W of the top models. so i can build a quiet and cool computer with it

Great performance for a now "budget" processor

Date of Review:  Jul 24, 2004
Review: I bought this processor for 75.00 and a new motherboard to replace an older yet adequate AMD Athlon t-bird 900. It ran everything fine, but slowed on any kind of intensive gaming or multitasking. This newer processor gave just the speed boost...
