Great Idear...Poorly Executed
Date of Review: Aug 21, 2005
The Bottom Line: Buy the DVD set and pretend you're building with the Teutuls. The game just sucks.
The American Chopper game could be great... Could be... But,it isn't. I don't get all hung up about graphics and such. The bottom line for me is "Is this game FUN?" and American Choppers falls waaaaaaaaaaaaay short on fun. If you could actually build a bike from parts that you pick out and then give it a test ride, then it might be fun.
The basic idea behind this game is to go fast and not wreck. Not a bad start. The game goes wrong in a hurry when you are unable to pick up fuel cans or repair kits because you must go fast and not wreck. If the objects you are supposed to pick up were a little easier to see at 120 miles per hour, you might be able to enjoy this game. But trying to avoid cars, trucks, vans, busses and "rival bikers" who are trying to crash you all while looking for fuel and parts...not fun.
I don't mind the fact that you're playing as "The New Guy", but it would be nice if you could choose somebody from the show. I think being Mikey or Vinny would be a blast and would give the game more dimension.
Overall American Chopper is a great idear that was VERY poorly executed.
