2005 Silverado W/T Long Bed V8

Overall this truck is just what a person would be looking for. My dad owns a 2004 GMC Sierra with a 4.3L V6, work truck package, pretty much the base model. This truck is the same but the Chevrolet line with a few extras. This has the 4.8L V8 motor which has an abundance of power for a 2 wheel drive standard cab truck. I have the upgraded LS seats but not the full LS package. These seats are way more comfortable and nicer looking than the standard cloth seats. With these seats you get a flip down armrest/storage bin where as the standard cloth seats have a fixed middle back that does not fold down. I also have a heavy duty suspension so this truck sits a bit higher than one with the standard suspension and also have a rear locking differential with 3.73 gearing in the rear end. My truck gets 21 on the highway when I take long trips and this is BETTER than the 19-20 my dad gets on his 4.3L V6. If you are going to choose between motors, the V8 is the only way to go. Much better horsepower and torque and better fuel economy (with the 4.8L anyway). The interior of the truck is amazingly quiet. I have owned an S-10LS prior to this truck and the interior and motor noise were way more apparent even with the 4.3L V6 I had in it. The doors tend to shut very hard though and many people don't expect them to do this and can't get them shut on the first try. One thing I see as a disadvantage is the fact that the 2005 model year trucks come standard with drum brakes again for the rear wheels. My dad's 2004 has 4 wheel disc brakes on the work truck package. Overall I think this truck is a pleasure to drive. The new Ford F150's have more storage space behind the seats than this truck though and also have small flip doors to help get small cargo in and out. I would recommend a Silverado to anyone considering one, but make sure you go with the V8 motor.
