Product Description

 
A sporty new Aero sedan joined the lineup for 2000. In addition to an upgraded chassis, the Aero featured lower-body skirting. The Aero used a turbocharged 230-horsepower 4-cylinder engine (from the high-performance 9-3 Viggen), while the SE got a 200-hp, 3.0-liter V6 as standard equipment. That V6 had been an option in 1999, but was no longer available for base models. A power sunroof and traction control now were standard on all versions. Newly optional 17-inch wheels could be installed on base and SE models, to match those on the Aero. Because General Motors owned the Saab company, GMs OnStar emergency/communications system was newly optional.

A Very Fast Wagon

The Bottom Line: A great alternative to the SUVs and Minivans due to it's power, performance, gas mileage and cargo capacity. Also it is highly rated for reliability and safety.
Review: This review is based on my purchase of a used 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon with automatic that I have been driving for the last several months. Here is my experience comparing it to other Saabs that I have owned and reviewed here as well:

The Bottom Line: Drive the 9-5 for the options it offers that no other car offers, but don't put total faith in Consumer Reports' high reliability ratings for the '99 model.
Review: Please be sure to read this entire review before making a purchase decision...I just purchased the SAAB 9-5 SE V6t and know I?ve begun what I hope will be a long-term relationship. I won?t be sleeping around on this beauty of an automobile.
