I've been a frequent visitor of Onsale for over 4 years, long before Egghead came into the picture. It was a great site with plenty of computer items at usually reasonable prices and quantities. I haven't needed to use their customer service because I've never had any problems with the products.
Egghead's site used to be a sorry excuse for a surplus/auction site. What I remember most about them is their order tracking feature. I had 'won' an auction once and was trying to track my order. I kept getting the status "order being processed" every time. Out of suspicion, I entered some bogus order numbers and got the same status! You can draw your own conclusions on that one.
So when I got news that Egghead and Onsale were combining I knew things were definitely going downhill. Ever since then the merger has produced the AOL of auctions. Its glorified and easy to use but you end up paying way too much for something you can get elsewhere(their S&H is questionable).
Beware the average user! There are some good deals in there but do extensive research before bidding(you've taken a good first step by coming here). The original Onsale would have gotten a 4 but I give the offspring a 3.
