My husband and I both have been victims of rear end car accidents, that totaled the vehicles we drove both times, leaving us stranded with one vehicle between us, sharing it between two different job shifts, school scheduales and tight free time to run errands and make appointments. If you think sex, money and in laws can ruin a marriage, you haven't been car shopping! To be in the middle of a frenzy, trying to decide what, when, where, who, how much, what kind? We went everywhere from
Kelly Blue Book Online to AutoTrader.com to taking drives along the side of the road to see what people were selling, scanning newspaper classifieds and visiting $0 down lenders and auto dealers, we were so stressed out. That was until we found
Edmunds.com, the answer to our prayers and the compass to our new vehicles, both Jeeps that replaced the '99 Buick Century that my husband drove and the '96 Pontiac Gran Am that I had. What worked in '03 relieved us again in '06! They pointed us to the dealers nearby and I will never go to another site after being there! While the other online sites were good for what they offered, they did not have the all-you-can-eat availability and creativity that Edmunds has. Why would you go anywhere else?
After many tears and fights about the urgency of our predicament, Edmunds was like a buffet of information, very organized, professional and making the atmosphere of finding a car a fun one. Some of the columns that will take you into a whole new world are:
* New Cars * Certified Cars * Used Cars * Car Reviews * Tips & Advice * Forums * Inside Line For
New Cars you can browse through make, model, year, options, get a quote, obtain insurance information, and find helpful articles. It can show you what the dealers have on the market, the availability and acts as an electronic auto advisor.
Certified Cars are cars that are sold by certified sellers and have information on leasing or cars that are ready to go now
Used Cars These can give you everything that need to know on used cars, complete with mileage, warranty, recalls, the works. It is more than likely where you want to start if you are in a jam, as these are easier to finance and more local. Notwithstanding that, there is a much bigger selection!
Car Reviews This, along with tip & advice and the Forum section is very interactive with other car owners, buyers and sellers. For your convience it has a finance center and insurance center to have all of your needs met at once. The
Inside Line is for car enthusiasts that are interested in concept cars, cars of the future, engineering, etc...
It is highly interactive. From unbiased reviews, to Top 10 Lists, to a link to a site called
carspace that is much like myspace, but with cars!! It provides articles on strategies, car advice for women, blogs, success stories, all in organized, easy to find areas of the site. It is much like a very large, clean Walmart, everything is in the right isle, in the right department, and placed on the shelf attractively! They encourage you to open an account so that you can have access to the cars you have searched for or the discussion threads you are watching, and so that you can interact with other members.
Selling a car? This is the best place over any site on the web! Because it draws such a large geographic group of people, and won so many awards and has so much to offer, a potential buyer could feel more comfortable buying through someone connected to Edmunds.com, and you could even become a certified seller through them. If you are a used car dealer, shed that junk dealer skin, and become reputable through this amazing online service! It has a young drivers section, advice from salesmen, fuel economy guides, warnings for buyers, marketing ideas for sellers, everything from flat tires to what kind of truck should you buy..You could spend a year on that site and still not read everything, it just keeps growing, like gremlins!
Back to my story. Edmunds is responsible for helping us find two jeeps, one gray Grand Cherokee Larado and one Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 from two different dealers within 5-10 miles of our home. One we financed and are still paying on, the other we bought outright. It saved alot of time, effort, and divorce attorney's fees! After visiting this site, I could never recommend another site! They even have the current real value (Kelly) of whatever car you are looking for. Please hear me, this is it. All other sites should close shop!! This is for both luxury buyers and the 16 year old getting his first taste of the road!
