I placed an order July 3rd and almost a week later, July 9th, still no sign of the order being completed and shipped out. According to the status on the website it is still "Processing..." I called yesterday to see what the hold up was and got little details but a lot of assurance that it would ship out yesterday or today at the latest. It was just 'waiting to get picked up'. So this morning I check to see if the status has changed to "Completed" and shipped or what but still no change in status and still processing with shipping date unknown. How long does it take to throw a few tubes of toothpaste and some garbage bags in a box and throw it on a mail truck? When I called yesterday I asked if it was a particular item that was unavailable or inventory issues but they said no.
At this rate, even if it did ship out today, it would take another week to arrive under Standard Shipping. 2 weeks for an order to arrive from such a large online store in this day and age is not acceptable. Online stores should have 24hr processing turn-arounds period. There is no reason in the world they should not. It should not be due to kinks in the packing process or lack of inventory. With real-time inventory capabilities and controlled environments with which to process orders, it should be a requisite and a most achievable goal. Especially when there is shipping time involved and trust required by the consumer since the store itself cannot really be contacted in person. They should streamline their processing time as much as possible to account for less controllable factors like shipping. Stores like this should have especially stringent practices and service on top of the quality and variety of products they provide not only because they're big but because they are online as well. They should even go as far as to also ensure that their relationship with 3rd-party mail providers are well-established and maintained at all time even though they are 3rd-party providers. It's possible to do it, I shop online a lot and I've seen it in some stellar online stores where it is consistently reliable, so it should never be an excuse that it is out of their hands once they drop it on the mail truck. Anytime I hear that excuse I automatically write-off that product/service provider in the future. It's part of their duty to ensure their business runs smoothly by making sure those orders make it into our hand.
I have ordered from them a handful of times before across several years and the only thing thing they have working for them is that sometime they will have good deals and discounts on something you need and sort of good information on each product like pictures, reviews, and suggestions. That doesn't really make up for or balance out the slow processing time though. The deals are NOT THAT GREAT. If they were it might be a different story.
