Worst online experience ever! Prices not worth hassle.

I called 2 weeks after I ordered and they hadn't sent it yet! I cancelled the order, and got the items elsewhere. Two weeks later, I got an e-mail notice saying the order had shipped and they charged my PayPal, which came out of my checking account. I hadn't allowed for that when I paid bills that month, so I could easily have bounced a check. Got the runaround from customer service and was so stressed, I cried. They said they couldn't give me a refund until they got the package back. I refused the package and they issued the refund finally, but it took another 2 weeks to show up in my account. Another week later, they charged me for some mousepad that was allegedly on backorder, but wasn't even on the original order. I've lost a lot of time and have been really upset. I usually wouldn't even write a review, but I want people to be spared my horrible experience.

Ordering from Vitacost is hardly worth the few dollars saved. You will find that many of the ordered items will be placed on backorder even when the site indicates the item will be shipped within 24 hours. The order will not be shipped if an item is on backorder and it may take weeks to finally receive an order. If you call to speak with a Vitacost representative, expect a lengthy wait. I am going to try other sites and hope for better customer service.

Nurse Practitioner recommended I try Horse Chestnut to help veins in left leg. Read what I could find on product & ordered 2, 180 ct bottles from Vitacost. Shipped & arrived in timely fashion, but after taking product 3 days, I started bleeding internally. Had to dig deep to find product was not recommended for those with Ulcerative Colitis (no warning on bottle). I emailed for return authorization number after 20 days (30 day return policy) & got no response. Vitacost says they respond in 24 hours....guess not! Tried again a week later, again NO RESPONSE! Vitacost must figure if they can get by the 30 day return policy, they got your money & you have nothing! NEVER AGAIN......I'll just pay a little more at the store in the Mall

Beware! I placed an order on 10/28/09 and paid for expedited shipping. On 11/2, the order had not shipped, so I sent out an e-mail asking about the status. When no one responded to that e-mail after a day, I called and cancelled my order. Sent another e-mail confirming that my order was cancelled. Nonetheless, a week later, my order SHIPPED. When I called they said they had no record of my call nor had anyone ever gone into my order (shame on you - it's on my cell phone record so I can prove I called). They reversed the shipment, but I cannot get them to process the refund. A supervisor was supposed to call me back and hasn't. Now I can't get through because their phone number is no longer working. Going to have to dispute this charge with my bank now. This is a COMPLETELY UNETHICAL COMPANY.

Very good prices--but very, very slow shipping as a rule and bad customer service. I ordered something on 9/11/09 and it still hasn't shipped (11/9). I emailed a couple of times and called a couple of times. No response to emails. After getting through on the phone (with 15 minutes on hold in one case), one customer service rep told me they had inventory problems and couldn't check my order. He also told me he didn't have a pen and paper to write down the order number and check for me. Finally after a couple of days I reached someone who told me the order had been cancelled automatically after 30 days. No one told me that, no email, nothing. Their website showed the order still as open and about to ship. How can I assume that I will get what I order if their website is wrong and you can't talk to anyone? They have a large selection of items that are out of stock. I am reluctant to order from them again.

I have shopped here at least twice a year for at least 3 or 4 years and always have had excellent service!! When I do have to call customer service with an issue(which is not very often) it is always resolved by replacement of a product w/o question or in another timely and kindly fashion. They have a great selection of products(and add more every year) at great prices! I am truly pleased with the quick and inexpensive delivery and have never had anything happen that made me not want to shop there again. I am baffled by some of the comments made about this co.! They have a lifelong customer in me!!

When I ordered I was told my order would ship same day if order was placed by 2pm. I placed my order at 7am. Later that night I called to see why order was not shipped, I was told three different things by same person....Back ordered, not shipped, and finally they were doing inventory. I was told it would ship 4 days later. I then asked why my card was charged, since I was told my card would be charged only when the order was shipped. I was told the card wasn't really charged, there was just a hold put on the money. News flash...if I can't spend my money the card has been charged.Call it what you may. Still waiting for shipping info....hope it comes soon since I ordered from this company because of false promises.

"Over the last year Vitacost has really slid down hill. I order lots of heavy items and they usually arrive without a whit of packing..smashed and leaking bottles..soaked and unusable products. The WORST thing, however, is that they have double and even triple billed my bank card on four separate occasions since January-all separate charges for the same order. I have to call my bank and have the extra charges removed. I love their products and prices, but I have decided NOT to do business with them again and urge others not to as well. It is not worth the aggravation, the "will they double charge me or won't they?" worry, the time spent calling my CC company to remove the extra charges (I wonder if they do this on purpose, thinking some people don't even examine their statements). I will pay extra to shop with companies that don't behave in such a sleazy manner.

I'd used this company many times over the last couple years without complaint, until they signed me up for an online savings program without my knowledge called SavingsAce. I only knew because of the $19.95 charges going through my bank acct each month. I never use savings programs so knew I didn't "forget" I signed up. After a brief online search of SavingsAce it seems this company has a lot of complaints for charging people without their knowledge, so I imagine they've made it too easy to sign up for their services with something as easy as a slip of the clicker! On Vitacost the only thing I did differently that time, if I recall correctly, is I checked out their offer to make my order a "recurring" order (so I could read the terms), then I backed out and changed it to just a one-time order instead, as usual. I have a feeling that click right there did me in.

I have placed at least 5 orders with Vitacost and had a problem with three of the orders. Their customer cervice department is very rude and unhelpful. They used to be a good company but must be under new management. The prices are very good, but don't look for help with any changes or problems with your orders. It is very discouraging. I shopped there via the internet and that went well, the products were delivered fine. Then about a month later a $19.95 bill shows up on my credit card for MVQ*SHOPESSPLUS 877-442-5774 US. Supposedly I signed up to take a survey when I ordered the merchandise and without my permission, this sleezy company starts billing me monthly for my "membership". I called MVQ and they took the charges off. Then I called the vitacost company and complained that they would allow such a dishonest company to use their ordering process to take credit card number to be used in such a way. The vitacost company was not responsive to the complaint. I asked for a supervisor or a person that was a decision maker and was told there was nobody I could talk to. I searched the website for an address to write a complain, there was none. I would never trust my credit card with such a company again. Watch you statements if you have done business with them.

I purchased an order 1 week ago, at which point, I was told everything was in stock and would ship within 24 hours. I paid extra for quick shipping. The next day, I received an email stating 3 items were on hold and they wouldn't ship anything until the order was complete. I called and modified my order to be shipped out the next day. It again was not shipped out. Called again and was told it would be shipped out on Friday. Today is Monday, and now I am being told it cannot be shipped out until tomorrow, at which point, I will not recieve it in time. I am forced to cancel my order and am stuck between a rock and a hard spot. I am very, very dissatisfied with the service and support at vitacost. I would rate it 0.1/10

Had no real problems. Two back-ordered items caused my shipping to be delayed 3-4 days. I was notified the very next day, so I cancelled them to get my order out faster. It definitely wasn't 24 hour shipping. I was told about the delay on a Tuesday, but the order didn't leave the warehouse until the following Friday afternoon. When shipped, order arrived Tuesday, UPS. Customer service was adequate, but slow to respond. The notification e-mails were a little unclear; some things showed as "not shipped" were actually in my box. One box didn't have any packing material and two did. Everything traveled pretty well, my "Popchips" seems to be a liitle flat, but I expect that because there really is nothing you can do to prevent really delicate chips from crumbling a little.
After reading some online reviews, I was very skeptical about Vitacost, but everything was basically fine and I will probably reorder. They have a great selection of natural foods. They just need to get a more updated system in place. |

Vitacost is a questionable business. They sell brand-name vitamins at a discount. That's fine. The problem is the NSI supplements. These are made for Vitacost in China by factories that are not held accountable to the FDA or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). Then add a recurrent charge scam. When I found this out I dumped all my NSI vitamins in the trash. I didn't want to get a supplement that might not even contain the vitamin I was paying for or, worse, risk being poisoned by some contaminant due to a sloppy industrial process.
I e-mailed and called NSI several times, but they never responded to my questions about quality control. To me, this is cause for concern. Compare that to other companies with which I have dealt: I've called and talked to the people in charge of formulating the products at Pure Encapsulations, ProCaps, Innate Response, and others. You get what you pay for. Honestly, for any product that is sold at a deep discount, lacks quality control documentation, has no customer service of which to speak, with negative precedents set (e.g., Chinese food products contaminated with industrial toxins), would YOU put that in YOUR body? Seriously. |

My first and only experience with this store was horrible. It took them 4 days to ship out my order (it stated my product would ship within 24 hours on the site) and I still think that the only reason they even shipped my order out was because I emailed their customer service online and told them I was going to cancel my order if they didn't give me some sort of feedback about the status of my order. In response to that email, they sent a shipping notice that stayed on "billing info received" on the UPS tracking site for 2 days. I received my package today and it was battered all to heck. The product packaging looked like it had been thrown into the package, but the product itself was fine (thank goodness for safety seals). I will not order from this company again. Drugstore.com, here I come!

I had same experience , after placing order I clicked on the coupon, next think I know shopping essentials have my card number . I didn't even pay too much attention when ordering since I am NATURAL NEWS reader, web side I trust , where Mike Adams recommends vitacost . Be careful , don't do business with them , it cost me so much hassle , I had to get anew card , dispute the charges , it is not worth it .

Customer Service is horrible. I notified them to cancel my order due to a back-ordered item. Three days later, they sent it out anyway. Once I received it, I contacted Customer Service to request a return address label, and was told that I was responsible for the return cost. The rep didn't even pretend to be concerned that Vitacost has permanently lost me as a customer.
