Great Service, quick delivery, and rebate scams
by dalskic, February 14, 2007
|
|||||||
|
The company has good prices, good service and quick delivery. The rebate program they operate is a scam. I've been denied on multiple rebates for my personal use. In reading many other comments on websites, I'm convinced that the scam is part of their business plan to sell more product. It's bad management practice, although they did get my money! I use other vendors and have less loyalty to them as a result.

Fraud, lies and other normal happenings at Tiger Direct
by notigerdirect, February 13, 2007
|

|
Tiger Direct took my order, confirmed my order and refused to ship my order even though it was set up for next day delivery. All I got next day was a notice that the order had been sent to a drop shipper for fulfillment, After several more days of no product I checked the status on their site. My order which they had confirmed was marked cancelled. I got an email later stating that there were cancelled items on my order(none listed) and the rest were pending shipment(everything I had ordered). I called customer service repeatedly and after going through the voicemail-go-round and being put on hold I finally just waited to see what was going on with my order. They had cancelled it because the price had changed. I will never shop there again and recommend that noone else does either. They lied to me, stalled me, wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor. I don't know if I would call what they tried a bait and switch attempt or just outright fraud, but be warned that you may never get what you order from them. I didn't.

$100 restocking fee for a broken computer
by rabbit0860, February 7, 2007

bought a cheap laptop - cheap but supposed to have battery supply- and the battery charging circuit was completely broken in a week. I got return authorization and shipping label just fine but they end up charge 15% percent restocking fee. I end up paying $100 for trying out a broken computer.
they are bargain hunter's heaven but they sell cheap and crappy stuff. I will never buy a high value item with them anymore. it's a lot better to go in a brick and mortar store shop for laptop. |

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!

Horrible Experience, DO NOT BUY!!!
I purchased an AMD processor with a $50 rebate a few months ago and sent in the rebates linked to the actual page of the product. A few months after sending in the rebate I get an email saying my rebate was denied because the purchase product date did not coincide with the rebate offer dates. I purchased on 11/23; the rebate offer went from 11/01 - 11/30. How does that not fall within the rebate offer dates?? I call them to ask and they say that they can't find the rebate offer that was promoted and that nothing can be done about it. Granted, the processor does work but a company that does shady things like offering bogus offers and prices SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE!!! |

Rebate SCAMs - buyer beware!
by raterman, January 16, 2007
|
|||||||
|
I have shopped at TigerDirect for many years without problems. Lately, however, I have noticed a trend whereby they advertise products much lower than other merchants, only to discover that there is a "rebate" that I must pursue AFTER the sale. After filling several of these rebates out and tediously mailing them in EXACTLY as specified (ie, no "copies" of UPCs, etc). . I am finding out that most of these "rebates" never get processed. The reasons for non-honoring them that I get back are just lies. First of all, it's just not fair to the consumer to have to pursue a Rebate offline with another company in order to get a good price on something. Secondly, TigerDirect needs to own up to their advertising policies (Can you say "SCAM"?) and help out their customers when they end up paying a higher price than advertised! Due to their new "rebate" scams, I'm done with them.

I see many negative reviews on here for TigerDirect but I can only go by my own experience.
I placed a large order that included several items with rebates on 11/30/06. All the items arrived on or ahead of schedule in good working order. After the items arrived I completed the online rebate registrations and eventually mailed the rebates on 12/30/06 (the last day for them to be valid). It is now 1/11/07 and between 1/4 and 1/11 I received email confirmation of acceptance on all $270 in rebates. The confirmations told me the rebate checks would be mailed between 2/3 and 2/10 but... I have already started receiving my rebate checks! My first rebate check arrived just 11 days (7 business days) after mailing the claim. I have never received a rebate this fast from any other company. |

I received a gift from Tiger Direct for Christmas (December 25) and tried to exchange it on January 2. They wouldn't let me because it was purchased on 11/30/2006. I would have had to return it by December 30...so essentially they have a five day return policy. THEN, when I asked to speak to a supervisor and asked for the employees name he HUNG UP on Me... I would absolutely warn you against purchasing anything from this company.

Deceptive "rebate" bait and switch techniques
by royt123, December 31, 2006
|

|
This store is using rebates to increase sales, then not paying the rebates. I tried numerous times to resolve without success. They sent emails saying essentially "the check is in the mail" but it never arrived.
I'm convinced Tiger Direct has learned how to fool people like me into buying their goods on a "rebate" basis. I'll never buy another product from them and expect within 5 years to see their name in the papers hauled into a class action lawsuit. |

Fast shipping, low prices, negative experience with online ordering
by buzzygirl42, December 29, 2006
|

|
I've ordered several products from Tiger Direct, and they are one of the fastest shippers I've dealt with. Based on other reviews I've read here and elsewhere, I would avoid buying anything from Tiger Direct that offers a rebate.
Tiger Direct's online ordering system needs help, though... I tried placing my last order online, and I got several "error" messages that made no sense whatsoever while entering my shipping address. I gave up after my third try, and called them. The customer service rep was courteous and helpful, and the order arrived in two days. |

Never got my order

I had put in an order for a laptop on this website. When I tried to check the status on the laptop I realized that they had it on hold and the product had not been released. I called them and after being on hold for almost an hour spoke to the customer service agent. I thought the problem had been resolved. However, when I checked the next morning the laptop was still on hold. I called again and the person said he could release it that day. I needed the laptop the second day and had asked for a 2 day delivery. However, because of the delay I now needed a 1 day delivery. Since Tiger Direct had messed up my order I hoped he could send it to me in a day without my having to pay an additional amount. The person put me on hold and the line disconnected. When I checked my order status again the order had been completely cancelled. I never got that laptop.

Avoid Tigerdirect-shutdown onrebate.com
by versute, December 22, 2006

Please- Don't shop from TigerDirect.com I was having a good experience, or so I thought, until I tried to get my rebates. OnRebate.com is owned by TigerDirect.com, and they won't give you your rebates-seriously. Just google "Onrebate.com" and believe the complaints.
They will steal from you and not honor your rebates. I sent in for a $50 rebate. They replied and said the UPC barcode was incorrect. I opened the email yesterday that said my resubmission was wrong, but I had made a copy of it, and I checked with the manufacturer who verified the correct UPC. When I called, "Mike" gave me the runaround and said he was trying to help me and he said they never received the resubmission and that I should fax(couldn't email, and I don't have a fax machine) him the email saying my resubmission was rejected. They had set the email to expire and my outlook deleted it. Stay away-they need to be shut down. |

I order a computer main board from tiger direct at good price $62 include shipping. Next day, I got a $15 coupons email from reservation rewards customer service. Just make a purchase at TigerDirect.com any time you want within the next 75 days. So I shop tiger direct again, I saw a computer case $29, I call Tiger direct customer service to place order, He said " you can not buy $29 things get $15 discount". I try to explain to him " sir I just want buy that case and i want to use my $15 coupon". Then he said
"I say one more time, you can not but $29 case to use your $15 coupon, if you buy something over $100, then i give you discount" then he hung up on me, very rude. My coupon should be same as cash when it used to buy anything plus on coupon, there is no print say you have to buy more than $$. |

Corporate thieves!!! Taking advantage of people's inability to fight against corporations seems to be to their great benefit. How about some tough laws and penalties out there.
Tiger Direct in this case, sent a large order of mine to a different city, when I finally received it one of the cases was damaged. A $40 mouse I had ordered and paid with a Money Order in this same order, I had cancelled due to a better local price. Not a problem they said, but have not received that $40 back from them in well over a 1year 1/2 with plenty of phone calls and diversion tactics, including that they had sent out a check to the wrong address and I'd have to wait to see if it gets cashed. Last I heard 1/2 year a go I was due for a refund but haven't received my cash back. Makes the blood seethe. So you think they're got great deals do ya? |

I placed an order for a bunch of stuff, totaling about $600. They sent some of it used, and I had to hassle them repeatedly to get an RMA and shipping credit. Then they defrauded me of the rebates I sent in. Everything was filled in correctly. They received and processed it, just never sent the checks, even after the 10-week waiting period, even after I spoke to the company's controller, and 4 other staff members.

I bought a Wacom Graphire tablet from Tiger Direct. Even with shipping and handling, it was cheaper than I could have gotten the tablet at any other store, online or in person. Without S&H, it was still around $15 cheaper. They sent me an e-mail when the item had been shipped, and it arrived well before it was expected to, coming brand new in a larger box with ample stuffing.
I began looking up reviews on Tiger Direct, as I was thinking of buying a laptop from them. The majority of recent problems at one review site seem to be due to complications with their rebates, while here, it's primarily having trouble getting damaged items taken care of. I appreciated their prompt service. I guess I've been scared off of getting that refurbished laptop, but for brand new items without rebates, Tiger Direct can't be beat~! |

Good Luck Getting Your Rebates

Would never buy an item offering a rebate from Tiger Direct again. Bought mid August 2006, now early December and have only received one of the promised four rebates. The one directly from the manufacturer arrived, it's now December, still waiting for the three from OnRebate.
TD says contact OnRebate, OnRebate does not answer e-mails and the automated phone system puts you on hold and no one ever answers. So, shop Tiger Direct if you like, but do not count on receiving the promised rebates. |

Empty promises ... shoddy practices

I ordered via phone per the instructions on the website for the digital camera I wanted. I was told I would have my order in two business days, GUARANTEED. The next day I used my order number to track it on their website ... lo and behold, my items were on back order and the order summary also showed "no returns permitted". I was never advised about the return policy when I was placing the order. When I called Customer Service, I got a song and dance about just missing the inventory when I placed the order. This was the day before Thanksgiving. They wanted me to check back with them on the Tuesday AFTER Thanksgiving as they were "expecting a BIG shipment on Black Friday". After discussing the situation with my husband, we decided to cancel the order and try elsewhere. By the way, ten days after Thanksgiving, the camera still shows "back order".

Great site ONLY if everything works flawlessly.
If you have to go through customer support you will find incompetent people, a general unwillingness to help & deplorable service. It is obvious that Tiger Direct's focus is on their sales and that they do not care about providing any type of acceptable post-sale service. Along with a 2k++ computer I bought a case with LCD/led display which died after 3 days and all they could tell me was that they did not have any more in stock and that I should ship it back to get all they had for me: a refund. Also had a problem with my account info and history (Tiger Direct lost all of my order history) which is still not resolved after 6 different support calls. In the end the support staff ignored my e-mails and repeated requests to speak to management or get the issue escalated, so I will never do business with them again and tell everyone not to, no matter how sweet their deals are! newegg.com ;) Very bad service. |

In the beginning there was Tiger Direct. Their glossy catalogs, slick product descriptions, decent prices were the cat's meow to all us budding computer geeks.
Then came the internet as we know it with all it has to offer but Tiger did not keep pace with the competition. With Newegg.com and other quality online retailers,Tiger has fallen by the wayside. They sell substandard parts at high prices, foist off expired rebates and pawn cheesy assembled systems to the masses. The shipping is high and customer support non existant. It's best to go elsewhere for your computer needs than this place. |

TigerDirect is Rebate Fraud Incorporated
by pe_unger, October 29, 2006
|
|||||||
|
TigerDirect and their rebate arm OnRebate.COM should be in prison for fraud. As a first time customer I made three purchases. They have honored zero of the $280 in rebates they owe me. I got lucky on one of the items and refused receipt of it when they denied the rebate even existed. On the other two I was not so lucky and 4 months after filing no less than 10 separate rebate forms with OnRebate.com, I have received no checks. None, zip, zilch, nada, nunca.
My Mastercard won't refund the missing rebates. The State of Florida Attorney General must be on the take as he is "monitoring the situation". My complaint did nothing there. The web is so full of fraud complaints against both Tiger Direct and OnRebate.com that it boggles the imagination. I find it "interesting" that this site posts such a high rating for this seller, as though they filter their input. Probably means I am wasting my time writing this review. |

Needed some PC parts (Hard drive, memory, video card, power supply) and saw that Tigerdirect.com had the best prices on the pieces I needed.
Delivery speed, order accuracy, customer service, and my overall satisfaction can only be described as "miraculous". Ordered the above parts, received the box, noticed it appeared to have been opened and re-shut during transit. Sure enough, someone had stolen two of the pieces I ordered. I immediately called, no questions asked, replacements were shipped out. After calling, I tried the power supply, but it was DOA. The PS was a Kingwin 450. That is not Tigerdirects fault, but another call to customer service, another was charged to my account and shipped (to keep my down time at a minimum), and I was credited for shipping AND the DOA power supply once they received it. My replacement parts got here even faster than the originals, but both were received quickly. I could ask that the US Postal Service is better with service, but I can not ask anything more of Tigerdirect.com. They have earned me as a customer for life. |

Tiger Direct is not a company you want to deal with.
I placed an order for two items, a scanner and an camera. I paid for 2 day shipping, and after I placed the order the website said, it is coming from Drop shipper, and delivery will be 7-10 days. I called customer service, and they said they would call me back with an update on service, never did. It is now 14 days, no delivery. When I called customer service again, they said it should be here by the end of the week. I said could I cancel my order, and Miguel said no problem. He said he cancelled it, but now, I doubt he really cancelled the order. He would not give me any authorization number. I was also charged for 2 day delivery, over $70, I would when that refund is coming back. I am very upset, and customer service is greatly lacking there. I will not do business with them again! |

Good prices - no games - fast shipping
by playhooky, October 18, 2006

I've been a TigerDirect customer for a number of years. Why do I keep going back to TigerDirect? Simply they have low prices (real prices not some kind of bait and switch pricing games like the less than honest mail order outfits), they have stuff in stock and ready to ship (usually in five days via UPS).
Their web site is easy to use and they send out a catalog so you can refer to it while ordering online. I put TigerDirect right up there with Amazon as some of my most trusted online vendors. Although I did have a glitch in one of my orders last year in which I received someone else's order and they received mine I am guessing. It took a few days and several emails before the situation was sorted out. Probably because their computer system did not recognize that an error had been made. Since all of my other purchase have gone smoothly I'm willing to give them a break on this one error. |

You know how impatient you sometimes get, waiting for the latest whiz-bang doo-dad to arrive at your door? Tiger Direct seems to have figured out a way to alleviate that part of the deal...and save you $$ too. I ordered a SIIG firewire expresscard, UPS ground, on Thursday at about 9AM PDT hoping to see it on Monday. When I got home the next day, there it was on the front porch. AND they saved me $20 over the local big electronic store, Fry's, $65 vs $85. Checking the UPS label I see that the shipper is SYX Distribution in Fresno, a central California city. From that I suspect that Tiger is sub-contracting their warehousing and shipping to a larger company which has centers strategically located to make overnight or two day deliveries possible on many ground shipped items. In any case, Bravo to Tiger Direct for the fine service and great pricing.

Rebate Rip-OFF & Over Priced
by griffen5757, August 25, 2006

Watch the rebates. I purchased a new motherboard and AMD processor. Rebate for the AMD processor called for proof of purchase "not UPC code". Since the package came with no UPC code anyway, I went to www.TigerDirect.com and followed link to proof of purchase. I then printed the what tiger direct called proof of purchase and sent in. The rebate was denied so I contacted customer support via email "which may just be a bot that replies with random answers".
They said I needed the UPC code to get the rebate. The original rebate didn't require a UPC code and the product didn't come with one. In the end they said to bad. I believe that this company is a total fraud and that the CPU was probable used or a defective one that didn't come with UPC code. I fill out many rebates so as always the first thing I looked for was the UPC. Not only is the rebate no good but any warranty is also void without the UPC code. |
