I was looking for Father’s Day gifts and since my Father is a DVD/Movie freak I wanted to get him a few DVDs. I chose DVDEmpire.com as my first choice because of their high rating on Epinions. After looking at their HUGE selection I decided I might get a gift certificate instead of accidentally buying a DVD he already has. Sure enough, they offer them and there is no extra charge. I later decided to just have my Dad pick a few titles that he didn’t have but wanted, then I would chose a few and make the order. I read through DVDEmpire’s policies and decided to try them out.

Browsing
When you are looking for DVDs there is multiple ways to go about it. You can search with their search engine or select one of the categories. They not only have categories by genre but you can find by studio, price, new releases, future releases, and bestsellers. I found the exact DVDs I needed within a few minutes. Each item you look at a movie it will say whether or not it is released/in-stock or unavailable for immediate shipping. I also enjoyed all of the information given which was just like looking at the back of the box yet laid out better.

Reviews/Comments
Some movies have comments or ratings on them that are given by other shoppers. They are lacking in this a bit so if anyone has a lot of spare time, head over and rate some movies! ;) Otherwise I suggest hanging out here (at Epinions) and reading movie reviews as you’ll have much better luck.

I was very impressed with all of the shipping options that were offered to me. After you have added all of your items and are checking out you are able to see all of the shipping options and what the exact cost is. Shipping prices are extremely reasonable especially since you can get Standard Mail which can save you a lot of money if you are willing to wait a few extra days. You can also get free shipping if you order at least 4 items from DVDEmpire.com. This is possibly one of the best Free Shipping offers as you don’t have to spend a certain amount to receive the offer. Another plus is that you can chose to have your entire order shipped or have items shipped as they become available. This is good for orders with not yet released titles or out of stock items.

USPS Priority Mail (2 - 4 days) $3.30 + $0.25 per item.
UPS Ground (2 - 5 days) $4.85 + $.25 per item.

They’ve Got The Speed!
I placed the order early on the 19th and got the phone call saying it was shipped around 12 hours later. My Dad received the DVD’s on Saturday the 23rd. I’m very happy with how fast he received the items. The order was correct and everything was perfect. He’s happy, and so am I.

The Main Reason I’ll Be Going Back
I placed my order at about 2am and that same day at about 2pm I received a phone call. I saw DVD Empire on the Caller ID and figured they were calling to say I entered something wrong or perhaps an item was no longer in stock. To my surprise it was a very nice Representative who ask to speak to me or my husband about an Online Order. He wanted to make sure that I made the purchase because the ship-to address was out of state in comparison to the billing address. I told him yes it was a gift. He told me that they try to do that with every first order if the billing and shipping addresses are different. I have never had an Online store do that! I was very impressed and when he said ‘sorry to bother you’ I proceeded to tell him that I like this kind of bothering! If only every store did this with suspicious orders we would have a lot less credit card fraud online.
