As my husband, our cat, and I were melting in 115 degree heat a few weeks ago here in Northern California, we agreed that a portable air conditioning unit would be an appropriate investment. We live in a new manufactured home, and have yet to install central air.
My husband drove around town for almost three hours looking for a decent product, and everyone was wiped out. Sears, Home Depot, OSH, Costco...nobody had anything more than a small table-top fan.
We turned to Google and there we found Compact Appliance. How happy we were to find the perfect unit at the perfect price! We ordered the Edgestar AP310 Portable Air Conditioner (10,000 BTUs) It took less than a week to arrive on our doorstep. We have it set up in a central location, and it works just great for our needs. It doesn't cool the entire house, but the air blowing out of it is ice cold and makes whatever room the unit is in very comfortable. The window kit is nice looking, easy, and very quick to set up or break down.
If we were to say anything negative at all about this shopping experience, it would be the outer packaging of the shipment. The product arrived in it's original manufacturer's box surrounded by styrofoam and placed inside a cardboard shipping box. The outer box was really messed up when it arrived, and there was a very small ding in the stainless casing of the air conditioner.
Otherwise, a great product at a great price, delivered very quickly during a severe shortage of similar products.
